Slicks vs. Drag Radials

I've been in a week long arguement with a few friends of mine, and just looking for some opinions. WHAT HOOKS BETTER ON THE STREET SLICKS OR DRAG RADIALS?

ive ran them botha dna s long as you knwo how to drive it and dont get to happy with the throttle they can both work about the same. i still say if its warm outside, the slicks are going to hit harder, as thy have softer rubber

slicks will always out hook radials for a couple reasons. the slicks are made to hook period, they absorb shock, usually have a better footprint, and are made from a softer compound. radials are made for mulitple task use, hook well but usually needs to be really really warm, stiffer so they arent as forgiving as a slick can be.

Depends on the road surface but for the most part yes slicks suck on the street. Drag radials and ET streets suck in the rain too. Nittos do ok but the bigger BFGs and M/Ts have a wide section across the middle that doesn't make for good all season handling.

I drove my car on slicks for about a month. Lets just say if it rained. I couldnt drive my car at all. It would just slide all over even at 20 MPH in 3rd gear, i would be fighting them. But with out warming them up on the street, i could dump the clutch at 3500 and barely get a spin out of them.

+1 Slicks. DRs work lots better than a regular radial for traction. Just to throw that out there.

The only bad thing about DR's is if you get a good set that hooks and you are launching very hard on them, they beat the hell out of the suspension more than slicks do. The slicks wrinkle to absorb some of the shock, but DR's don't. Just a little side note.

the Nitto DRs are good for almost anything when working for a performance vehicle. get 15k miles outta them relatively easy, and be able to cut good short times while having the ability to drive in the rain...

the nittos will make u not hate tires so much... a bunch of guys around here drive on them yearly and are able to cut 1.5 60fts in near stock suspension mustangs... so they hook, just mt/bfgs hook better, but these get the best treadlife aswell...

They are on my DAILY. Yes...that right, I drive it in the winter. I don't run my slicks in the winter, because they puncture too easily with all the stuff everywhere. But, in rain...they're not like...instant death...you get used to it.
