4.10's made me slower

my previous best time without the 4.10's was a 14.9...but now with the 4.10's best i could manage was a 15.3 usually around 15.4

i'm running some shitty 245/45/17 street tires...i think the brand is champion or something like that...not to mention the track prep is far from stellar... i swear first was just a constant spinfest even when i tried feathering the clutch is was all pretty much useless, the car would even get a bit sideways going into second and spin a while then...

edit: i used to spin first pretty bad even with the stock gears...but i didn't expect to lose about half a second

car is my dd so i need something that i can use a while before replacing so it pretty much takes the m/t and bfg's out of the picture

so I'm looking to get myself some nitto 555r 275/40/17(heard that's the widest i can fit on a stock 8 in rim)...think i can get back into the 14's maybe even 14.6's????

Hell ya i think some dr's will do you some justice! Or maybe try and start in second to keep the spining to minamal if your tires just cant hook.

i have nitto 555R 315's d/r on the back of my mustang, i mean its an 88 5.0 with full bolt ons and 3.73's, and i was able to spin street tires until third gear, Now, with the nittos, once i do a little burnout the fucking tires are sticky as hell, I LOVE THEM!

that sounds right up our alley. thats good to hear also.

ive seen a few people say nitto's spin like mad.. i told them i think its due to not properly heating them up or just a bad launching technique

Nittos ftw. (drop em down to 13-15 psi and they will hook up like crazy)

I went around the water bit a couple times and SPUN. Did a light burn out, normal tire pressure and took the car to over 2500rpm and they hooked so good i let off the gas abit i was shocked

Yeah honestly i always thought too much tire spin was drivers error, now i realize nitto d/r's are just amazing and you can launch like a mother

Remember something:

The more power you add, the more go-fast parts you add, the harder it becomes to attain proper traction, and thus you become forced to add more things like, a dr, or actual slick, sfc's, suspension improvements, etc, in order to be able to use that power properly.

Because the more you have (gears don't technically add power, but they are a torque multiplier), the more you have to do to get it to hook properly.

What if you add something that only add's hosrpower/torque on the higher end of the rpms? does that still make traction an issue? no right

well if you spin at 5k in first gear it would make traction an issue IMO

do you have Upper and Lower control arms?

I went from running 14.24
to a 13.8
13.7 with my 4.10s
but im an auto, I rev to all hell LOL (gas mileage sucks the big one)

Now i have all my suspension work done i cut 13.6-13.4
with 2.0 60!

(dont have a stall so i can get my rpms past 1800 with out spinning my nitto dr...)

and now im running flat 12.0's

4.10s were buy far my best and most efficent (performance mod) in the long run.
low end torque with some KILLER power.

I learned how to play with my SCT tunner. and made my shift points STRONGER.

Do you have a SCT tuner?

if you do post up and ill pm you my number and ill walk you through the Peramerters of SCT to get MORE out of your 4.10s <3

LET ME KNOW.
