I am sure you could but having 2 transmissions on top of each other won't help you at all

but yes you can swap a t-56 into your car.

granted it's on a B not a GT but that doesn't matter in this case because it's the same transmission

T56 is a T56

the only other type is the Viper spec T56 and it would still be the same exact install.

"viper spec" refers to the gear ratios inside the transmission is all.

Easy. Remove shifter. Drop your exhaust, driveshaft, support the gear case and rear of engine and unbolt the gear case from the bellhousing, remove electrical connections and trany crossmember. Pull gear case out of clutch/bellhousing (set aside). Block clutch pedal from the back and disconnect clutch cable, unbolt bellhousing from engine and remove. Unbolt pressure plate from flywheel and remove with clutch disc. Unbolt flywheel and remove. Mark a flywheel bolt hole with its counterpart threads in the crank for reassemble (you may not have to do this). Have old flywheel resurfaced or buy a new one. Replace pilot bearing in the end of crank. Bolt flywheel back on. Use alignment tool to put new clutch disc in place. Bolt on new pressure plate, bolt on bellhousing with new throwout bearing, reconnect clutch cable (you may need to reset the factory quadrant adjuster). Incert the gearcase into the clutch getting it to seat on the gearcase. Bolt up the gearcase and crossmember. Reattach electrical connections. Replace drive shaft, exhaust and shifter. Make sure you torque everything to the correct specs and use locktite on your flywheel and pressureplate bolts and anti seize on the exhaust bolts. Have fun.
