Changing from cable to hydro?

Okay so my 'stang has a cable clutch, and right now its fine to drive, but once I up the HP with a turbo, well I don't want to be pushing a stack of bricks whenever I drive. It's been suggested just to shorten the cable. But I love the hydrolic clutches so much more. I've heard over and over again that its a PITA to make the change, but I'm wondering if anyone's done it. Really I want to know if its worth it or it.

Sadly none of the those are the right year... but I guess I could potentially fudge it if need be
