For My Fellow Automatic Gt S197 Owners

i was wondering if anyone has 4 10 gears in their automatic s197? i got 3 73's and i love them but recenly i bought a huge nitto drag and im losing top end in the quarter. the best ive been able to get is a 12.8 at 106. i was wondering at what speed do the 4 10s top out at? and what is the gas mileage like? and what does it idle at 80?. my 3 73's can go 160 plus.(it was in the black part past 145) plus im ordering a procharger d1sc and i dont want gears that will make me top out at 120 when that can possibly be my quarter mile trap speed.

Do not go with 4.10 especially if you plan on getting a supercharger. I have seen it time and time again where guys have ended up switching back to the 3.73's

The shifts will happen way to soon and the RPM's will be to high, and it will kill your gas mileage.

yeah i rebuild trannys and just rebuilt my 4r70w in my 96gt and also installed 3:73s..at the track if you get a supercharger you will be spinning those tires if not lose control off the line with 4.10s..i get 27 mpg on the highway and 20 in the city on 93 octane..

3.55s and 3.73s are the way to go man..and at 80 which i do every day i sit at 2650 if maybe a lil lower..with 4.10s you will be at 3000 which sucks!!!!
