royal purple

I was about to change my gear oil the other day using royal purple and a friend of mine mentioned something about it eating away at any surrounding gaskets. Can anybody credit or discredit this for me? Or instead name a few other options i could use that aren't as flashy as royal purple?

ok, my friend was referring originally to coolant, but i suppose he got the wrong idea when he said it about oil. thanks for your help, i'll be doing royal purple then. And to confirm it, i'm supposed to drain the gear oil out of the bottom bolt and then replace the bolt. Then i'm supposed to fill into the top bolt until it reaches the opening? then i put the top bolt in?
