no. All you need is to buy the 150.00 kit and get crackin on it. You do not need a key put in your car.

if you have a manual transmission the install will be a little more involved but not impossible

got to best but of circuit city and the will sell you a 555FW it is a transponder with the little module instead of loosing a key it has the capsule that we attach close to ignition chamber where the keysense ring is located and we program the module off of BOTH of your keys. I dont know who charges $150.00 but we at best buy only charge $51.99 for the module and then $24.99 to install it. They also have one where we put the key inside the module (556U) but I dont like using those cause you will loose one of your keys. Check this out, this is what I use to pull up diagrams for all the car that I work on.

oh yeah, not trying to be a dick, but you wont be able to get access to this unless you have a password, which is only given to distributors of DEI.

as others have said you dont have to use a key to make it work. this is what i bought and use for my viper 791xv with remote start, my car is also a manual.

It comes with instructions and its pretty easy to program and install
