turn the bass down in the door speakers/ if you have a 460 fade the speakers to the back 6x8s for bass output if you dont have subs

the front doors are paper cones and do not handle the bass output very well especially with more power thru an aftermarket headunit

Stock speakers are pretty shitty all around as far as bass goes. I have 2 10" rockfords and I just filter all the bass out of the regular car speakers. All the higher tones go through the stockers, all the bass goes through the subs.

He's correct, they just cannot handle it. my car has the mach 460 with an alpine aftermarket digital media center (cd playerish) and an alpine 15" type R sub, i've got my bass settings at -5 and treble at +7 with it faded to the rear to -3. Music is crystal clear, and with that 15" it def hits the lows even with the bass turned wayyyyy down haha

Also, if you happen to switch 2 of the wires around (positve vs negative) then it may cause it to be muffled but more then likely it will just pop due to the reversed polarity. so that may be an option as to why their not sounded correct?

did you cut the plug off and wire them up or did you just tap into that male plug?

did you replace the speaker or did you replace the radio? either way, if you purchased the harness for either one and wired them up correctly then you shouldnt be experiencing any problems.

if you just replaced the radio then adjust your settings to your liking as mentioned above. if you replaced a speaker then try switching the two wires around to see if that makes any difference in sound quality.

not really, just play around with it until you get some sound that is pleasing to your ears. I could tell you a setting that I like and someone can do the same but its not your ears so what we like you may not.

try setting your hpf a little higher, that may help, unless you want bass or mids coming from your door speakers then you need some components
