New to the Mustang World but not to Sound Systems

If its not too late, It is going to be your Amps. So yea, it could be grounding out somewhere but it sounds as if the amps are fried. So yea you do get sound sometimes but I bet thats after you leave the car parked for a while... leaving the amp to cool. Then after 10-30 min. of use the sound cuts.

The Same can go for if only one speaker is cutting out... but if its only one speaker then the best is to just check the wiring first before replacing an amp.

Sorry, I can't help you with what amp to choose as I have not experimented on Mach systems yet. I hope this helps and gets to you in time.

see my other posts about the MACH 460

the AMP under the head unit is a 4ch used only for the "tweets" - 500hz and up .. which is why a lot of people complain about the sound quality of the MACH 460.

each amp in the rear deck run the 6x8s (6.5's for Verts) in MONO - 1 amp for the front two and 1 amp for the rear 2.

I've rebuilt plenty of MACH 460s lately cuz people try to add subs and cut wires not realizing the system isn't a typical PWR / GND / POS / NEG setup like all other car audio.

at least your prev. owner just put in a switch to add his subs instead of cutting all the leads goin to the rear amps
