Alarm won't go off
I have an autostart/alarm thing on my car, whatever you call it...it locks, unlocks, starts and stops the car, but for some reason the alarm doesn't go off anymore when you try to open the door when its locked. I think this may have started happening after I left my lights on and killed my battery, I'm not sure though.
Is there any way to reset an alarm system or something? just something to make it act normal again... |

When you hit the lock and unlock button does it chirp at all or your horn honks? Is your led blinking or constant when you arm the car? If it doesnt chirp or the LED is constant then the alarm might have went into valet mode. What brand do you have?

who installed it? i would take it back to them so that they can check it out. There is no program for door triggers. Even if the battery died it will still work, the only other thing that I can think of is that somehow during the whole battery dying and changing that your door trigger went bad (which I dont see how it would) but it could be a possibility.
By the way what year is your ride?

Alarms systems dont have resets. You have to actually program all the functions into the brain and then the only way to reset it is to program it manually reset it via the valet switch.

I don't know who installed it...it was already on the car when I got it.
It's a 94. where might the valet switch be? |

we usually install the valet switch under the driver dash or in the drivers kick panel.

I know this is an old topic but I need to bring it back...
A little while ago, I found my valet switch, and I noticed that one of the two wires going to it had come undone. so i soldered it back together, and the alarm seemed to be working better but it still didn't go off when I just tried opening the door while it was locked, I had to actually open the door with the alarm armed for the alarm to go off. So i was playing around with the valet switch trying to get it back to working like it used to, but in the process I somehow completely fucked it up and now it doesnt chirp at all, ever. command start doesn't even work, the lights flash but the car doesn't actually start. all it does is it still locks and unlocks with the remote but that's it. is there any certain way that i'm supposed to press the valet switch to get it to work again? like do i have to hold it for a certain amount of time or some kind of pattern? please help!! |
