head-unit
i just got a sony hed unit installed in my stang. I used the tools that came with it to remove the head unit to look at the back of it to see if i could hook up a sub to it. Now i cant put the damn thing back in the cage. It goes halfway and acts like it's stuck. I can't figure it out. any ideas?
Do i need to jiggle it or force it or use the tools or what? I dont wanna break my brand new cage and dash kit i had intalled. thanks |

look at the cage see if any of the tabs are bent in, other then that just check the wires and see if they are gettin in the way. after that just pull the cage out slide it on yoru deck them put it back in. thats the safest route, other then that your looking at force i guess i haven't had a problem yet. what kind of deck?

i had the problem, it went in like half way but i pushed and it just wouldnt go farther, but then i made sure the wires didnt stay goin straight behind the deck bc when they did they hit the back and thats as far as it will go, but if ya bend em so they go out a lil bit it leaves room for the deck

you were all right. Stupid wire in the way. just so hapened it was the power wire and by forcing the unit back i stripped it to the point of no longer powering the unit on. Circuit City quickly replaced it though, saying it was their bad.
That aside, main reason i did this was to get a sub connected. I dont need my entire trunk rattling, i just want a little bit of "boom" with all my songs that seems to be completely absent at the moment. Would a really cheap 200 watt bass be out of the question??? where can i get a good cheap bass/amp?? thanks |

by the way, my stereo has an RCA "sub out" in the back. How the hell do i hook that up to a sub??? are there certain ones you can hook it up to without an amp or something??

About the only way is to get a Bazooka powered tube. IMO you would be better off getting an amp and sub woofer separately.

Just buy a nice amp and sub...
You can find decent ones on ebay pretty cheap...Or shop around on forums and you might find something there... The Bazooka's are junk...And you buy junk you will get junk sound... - Get a good amp install kit...You can get decent ones at Best Buy and Circuit City...Me personally I only tun Phoenix Gold in my cars... --Wire It up...It is very very simple... - Pick out what subs you want...You can go to an audio shop and most of them will give you the ins and outs of each sub and will help you decide what best suites your wants and needs... - Find the amp to best suite your needs...Like the subs any good audio shop will help you find which one best suites your needs... - Buy a Box for 10's, 12's or whatever size you want...I prefer boxes that hold at least 2 subs but you need to get a box set-up with the right ammount of free air space that your subs need...Any decent audio shop will help you out with that part of... And when I say Audio Shop I am not referring to best buy, circuit city, or other places like that...Audio shops do audio/video on cars all day long...They dont sell household appliances or anything like that... Hope this helps...You can ask any question about any sub, amp or any other combo you would like to do... |

i dont need anything fancy. crappy sound is fine with me. i'm just lacking bass in general so i need a little bit added. i was thinking 200watt, just cause it's cheap. when i hook up an amp, where do i attach the power supply? to the fuse box?

You attach the power wire to the positive side of your battery...
