where is my iat sensor?

Ok, so i tried to find the iat sensor on my 02' v6, as well as my mechanic, and neither of us could find it. could this be why my car overheats everytime i go on the high way for long periods of time? Where should the sensor be? Any help would be appreciated.

the IAT sensor is on the intake tube, this thread has a picture, your intake looks slightly different but same concept. is your car throwing any codes?

have you done routine cooling system maintenance? is the thermostat working, did you check the radiator cap, what does it do when it overheats?

I just Changed the thermostat not to long ago...the radiator cap looks fine doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it....it'll start climbing towards hot and then stop right before the red line stay there and then go down a little bit and then stay there until i get off the highway or go below 65 for awhile....but it seems to not do it as much when its a little colder out at night....

a 2002 mustang does not have the iat sensor, around mid 2001 ford started putting the iat sensors in the mass air flow sensor itself. got to autozone or napa, nearest auto parts store and buy an airline cap to seal your hole, crap can fly through the small hole and into your engine, that equals not good.

I suggest taking out the thermostat completely just in case it seizes up again. Let the coolant flow freely. Are you leaking any oil??? oh and the IAT just like dgt_mustang said is a one piece with the MAF sensor. They are two sensors in one. You have to take out the housing around the intake to get to it....
