I Am Not 100% Sure But I Had A Mach 1000 In My First Mustang. I Was Gooing To Sell It To A Frind Of Mine And He Said Ford Would Have To Rewire To Complete Radio System. I Think He Said It Would Be $800. Mine Was A 02 Gt, His Was A 03 Gt.

Just because it has the 6 disc doesn't mean its a 1000. My mach has the 6 disc and its a 460.

i believe you just need an adapter to connect it to the 460. IMO get an aftermarket head unit and subs if you have the money. a pioneer avic d3 and 10" pioneer subs are great but the head unit is pricey.

You don't need to change out your speakers to make your mach 460 or 1000 speakers sound awesome. The stock headunit is just crap, it has no way to really control the speakers. Get yourself a nice aftermarket headunit, it will clear your speakers great. I used to not be able to take my 460 past 5 clicks without it distorting.

What did you end up going with? Did you use an adapter or hardwire it yourself. I heard using the adapter sacrifices sound quality. T or F ?

The used the wiring harness that crutchfield sent and it sounds great once you get it to the car you just plug right in so you don't have to do any wiring in the car. I think it sounds awesome. It will sound about 50x better then the stock headunit. Here is a pic of how it turned out, sorry I hate wiring so I didn't really take any pictures of the wiring harnness step by step. I think it really looks good in the car.
