Infamous ZERO Trunk Space for Woofer Box

I have questions regarding the infamous "can't fit a damn woofer box in comfortably in the mustangs w/ the mach audio systems". Obviously you could get a custom box made. I prefer to save money and not...I need a ported box that will fit in the trunk of my 96' GT (w/ mach audio) that can house this subwoofer....any suggestions on how to either make my own??? Or what to do...

Here's the link for the woofer specs....

single woofer or two? Are you handy with a saw and screw gun and have a basic understanding of geometry?

Many times we used to pull out the rear seat (upper and lower) adn then unbolt the frame behind the upper and bend it down. This will get you another inch or so in height to get a larger box in the trunk from the inside. You then simply bend the frame back into place and rebolt averything. I believe the frame bolts are 10mm, and there are 3 of them across the top. Memory is a bit fuzzy on this, but I also think you either have to pull up the very front of the rear deck or there is a trip piece to pull up. It's been at least 5 years since I did this (moved on to another line of work) but I did these things for 9 years, and did this same thing many times.

Sorry. As far as covering it, there are purpose built carpets for just this thing, as well as a felt-like material that closely matches your trunk liner. Either of these can be made to stretch over 5 sides of a speaker box with a little time and muscle. It's important to round your corners and edges so they don't poke through and/or tear the material. Normally I used a router, but you can make do with a portable belt sander. The carpet is attached to the box with 3M spray adhesive, and can be found at Lowes/Home Depot type places in the paint dept., and further held in at the edges with staples. Trim with a razor knife and voila. Total build time with good equipment used to be about 25 minutes, covered and woofer installed. And I did not use silicone.
