its a radar detector isnt it i havent did a velitine v1 but i figure the about the same as any other just find a postive wire that gets hot when the ignition is on and a good ground

I would recommend just running it into the power wire for the radio

dude forget all that just hook it up 2 a switch thats what i did its clean u dont have 2 worrie about messing anything up and git er done man

well i got a hardwire kit on ebay for 8 bucks. its got a t-tap. can i tap into anything else besides the radio?

rtfm = read the f*cking manual

Just tap into something that is an ignition-on power source. The radio is prolly your best bet.
