looking for ground for Instrument cluster...

Ok, I thought that i had fixxed my issue with the battery light coming on as I drive. I replaced the lead from the alt to the lamp... I have checked the voltage, adn when the batt light comes on everything is seeing 13.4+ volts. so now I wanna make sur the ground is good. every other guage is working fine, so I doubt this is the real issue, but oh well, I still wanna check. Im about to just pull out the bulb and ssay hell with it. My batt tests fine, alt tests fine, everything should be ok. I have been told to look for a short, but the only short I can find is my short shifter, and I just dont think that is what I should be lookng for....

any ideas?

Use the one from the headlight switches harness. most likely your best ground but i doubt its the cause.

any ideas on the cause then? the pos wire is seeing 13.4+ constantly on the hot side of the warning light. what causes the light to trip? how is it supposed to workout? I agree it most likley isnt the cause since all the other things on the cluster work fine, but Im at a loss here.

have you looked into any possible aftermarket equipment with a short that may drain the battery?

I already pulled al my stuff. XM radio, Sub amp and Ipod dock... big list huh? as far as a drain, there is a slight drain, coming from the GEM fuse. it as the radios memory, cluster memory and that running through it. but my batt isnt falling below 12.66 after sitting for 48 hours. so I dont see it draining to badly...
