Make Your Own Gauge Cluster****NOTES*** 1: Pictures of a 97 Ford F-150 but you will get the idea. 2: had to use the gauges I had here. 3:I`m not finished! To start off you need to get your old cluster out, and if you can removing the shroud around the cluster. Next if possable remove the mounting area or the glass or plastic front cover like so(yes thats a Phoenix Gold amp and the Baumannator TCS) ![]() ![]() some may be curved we can deal with this a bit later in the post but for now you should have some sort of item to go off of. ![]() now that we have the base part to go from we need cardboard styrofoam sheet found at most hardware stores.Use a pen of some sort or a marker with fine tip and thin stock(Thin stock, fine pen or marker is a must). Trace out you base part and cut it out on the cardboard or if you are real good with a knife the foam but best stick the fool proof way plus it comes in handy on fitting.cut it out Then you have this ![]() Ok if yours is curved don`t worry I have you covered just slowly rock your base part to trace it like so ![]() ![]() ![]() So you end up with this

![]() ![]() Easy with the cutting and you get this ![]() now you can lay out your gauges.Works best if you have all the gauges to work with so you get the best fit. Autometers are mint for this they have the posts to stick in the foam for placement. ![]() Next stick them in for placment and trace or if your good cut the mounting size of the gauges as so ![]() Finished item as so

![]() ![]() ![]() Most curve a bit don`t worry we can deal with that. Now see how the mounting points are,If there on the bezel your set almost if not ask your self.1 can I use a new mounting point.2 can I use long bolts or screews and tubing for braceing the bolts or screews. Set your template in the dash and pop it all back together.see for you mounting angles to your template.figure out 1 and 2 above then wecan move on.mount your template.See how it fits with a strait or slightly curved template.works best if you transfer your mounting holes to the cardboard template for safety,if not be carefull. As you can see mine dont all line up ![]() ![]() not to worry we can just set them in the dash a bit more to clear the gauge bezels and we don`t need to curve are final part slightly to install. Make sure you have rear clearance for the gauges if not see if some of the inner dash can be trimmed.(not a good idea to hack at the heater box it will kill your gauges in the long run. |

For god sake use fuses #1 rule!!!! Make sure you have the gauges and all you need to convert over to them if need be. Or you can find stock wire pin outs for the original cluster and use from there if you can.All apps are not the same so don`t think they are do your homework. You may need binding posts or terminal posts installed close to your cluser or out of the way somwhere.I was lucky I can use sreews in my dash without hitting the heater box ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I added a Viper alarm and a Baumannator TCS when I was at it.(TCS not showen but you can see the viper way in the top of the dash. ![]() well thats all I have for now stay tuned and I will get more posted for you all to finish this off. |
