Gas Gauge Stuck! HELP

So the other night I filled my gas tank up about half way. I only drove about 14-15 miles after the fill up when I noticed my gas gauge was stuck at about a little under quarter of a tank. It was working yesterday night. I went to a car shop to check some things out after work. It was working fine (it was at around half a tank) after work. It was when I left the car shop was when I noticed. So last night I filled up with a full tank. Started the car; the gas gauge shot up from where it rests and only went up the a little below a quarter of a tank. WTF??? Help??? I'm thinking of either pulling the fuse that controls the sending unit, unplugging the battery for ten minutes, or maybe even the sensor in the tank is stuck and I might have to go into the tank to fix it... Someone inform me here on what's goin' on. Thanks.
