2-way FM car alarm

Hey guys, are any of you running one of those 2-way FM car alarms with remote start? I want to get one, but just curious which one you have, where you got it from, and what the final cost was. Thanks a lot.

Ive got the Viper 5900 as of right now, I used to have the 791 both are 2 way remote start security systems. I did the install myself. The 791 used the old 2 way system while the 5900 uses the "SST" system. Spread spectrum technology, the old way only sent out 1 signal that could interuppted and was only good for about a 1/4 mile, while the SST sends out thousands of signals in many directions guaranteeing that you will hit your mark and will give you a 1 mile radius. The 5900 retail is $500.00 installed but in order to do remote start you will need a bypass module as our vehicles have a chip inside the key that prevents anyone from taking our rides without the proper key (PATS).
But def. go with DEI as they back their products up with a Lifetime Warranty. They also have the 771 which does not have a LCD screen.

bypass modules to look for: 556u, 556F, 1100F, Xk04
the way a couple of them work is that you will loose a key as it stores a key inside a box that reads the code from the key and sends the signal to the PATS system when the car is being started while the others (1100f, xk04) you will need to bring both keys to the installation so that the person can program both keys to the module as both keys have different codes on them. The modules run anywhere from 50 to 100.

so you have to have two programmed keys? also.. most places won't install remote start on manual transmission vehicles

yeah, cause on each key there is a seperate code that it send out to the PATS system both codes have to be stored into the module so that the PATS system will let the car remote start.

Ive got the compustar and i love it. works really well no complaints at all. Its the second one ive owend and i will enevr have a different alarm again
