I have an antenna on my 00 GT obviously, aside from it being long and annoying... it's useless to me.

I simply do not use it. I have no use my entire audio system is digital and based around my external Mp3 Hookup and my XM. Therefore, the Antenna on the outside of my car looks stupid, tacky and serves no purpose.

I know it just unscrews, but I want to remove the base to and stick my XM flat antenna over it. I was just wondering how'd I do that though.

It obviously doesn't just pop up, and under it the antenna wire/lead connects, neither seem to want to come off and I don't want to damage it, just want it removed.

Anyone have any clue how exactly it's mounted and how I would remove it?

The antenna is attached to the fender with a washer and locknut on the inside of the fender. You will have to gain access to it either buy removing the fender or removing the inner fender well. (Probably the easiest) The antenna cable runs through the firewall through a grommet.
