probably a dumb question


...but what does it mean to have a stroked engine ...like stroke 3.8l to 4.2l

a stroked motor is when you increase the stroke (the upward and downward motion of the piston).....basically when you get longer connecting rods and a crank that gives you more stroke

boring is when you increase the diameter of your bore and stroking is the distance the piston moves up and down!

right,
boring makes a differance in the cubic inches . just off the top of my head a 383 stroker has differant stroke length or differant piston, and bored over .030 i think . some stroker kits consist of longer rods, longer throw of the crank , and most have differant pistons to relocate the wrist pin for the compensation of the longer stroke.

nevermind im tired its late and im rambling not making a whole lot of since.....

Yeah what he was trying to say was that the stroke of the motor relys on many things!

when you bore the engine, they call it boring. like previously someone mentioned boring .030. this is also known as boring 30 over. totally different then stroking.

Stroke 3.8L is not valid terminology. Stroke is how far your piston goes up and won. the "L" or Liters in 3.8 liters measures an engines displacement, which is a combination of stroke, bore, and number of cylinders.
