Carb. Tunning Hey guys i'm a noob and i'm havin some carb trouble. I got a 66' coupe with the stock 289 with crapy smog heads and an aluminum intake, edelbrock carb and K&N filter. Put some shorty headers on with a 2 1/2'' magnaflow exhaust. And to top it off i put a digital distributor with MSD High output coil. ok now that you know what i got i was wanderin if you had any advice on tunnin the carb?

the edels are more difficult to tune than holleys. Maybe you could pick up a book that only deals with edelbrock, or call their Tech line. They are usually alot of help and thats what they are there for! You'll get it figured out, just do some research and you'll be 1 of the few who actually know the edelbrock carbs.

let the engine warm up all the way...hook you a vac. gauge up to vac. port on the intake or carb...then adjust the idle mix screws till you have the highest vac. i had the same set up a while back and i went through 3 edlerjunk carbs till a buddy of mine let me try out his holley and been hooked every sense....but if ya get that brock tuned in right in sure you'll be happy...every engine is diffrent...good luck man
