Throttle Body Cable Sticking

MellowYellow Enthusiast '02 GT-Under Construction 8.15@86 (1/8) Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Aggieland,TX Posts: 998	Throttle Body Cable Sticking My accelerator pedal has been sticking and its making me look like a bad driver and we can't have that. I've come to the assumtion that it is the throttle body cable. Should i just shell out some cash for a new cable or is it not the cable at all? This is a stupid question and I would rather be talking about real engine stuff but it's bugging me. mxnate116 Regular 88 mustang GT Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: spokane, wa Posts: 225	check the inside of your TB. mine was grooved terribly and my throttle would stick. that and an old throttle cable. i got a summit TB(professional products i believe, either way i love it) and i sprayed light chain lube (for bikes or dirtbikes, its what i use on my dirtbike cables) in the cable and it works great. no problems.

I hope it's just the cable. i have a BBK t/b also, and yes, it sticks sometimes. you may need to clean out the t/b, also. sometimes, it gets gummed up with carbon build up. i did that with mine and couldn't believe how filthy it was. made a noticeable difference after i cleaned it out.

klean4.6 Newbie 99 GT Join Date: Jul 2007 Posts: 45	Adjust the throttle screw out some. Not too much, or you will have an hanging idle. usually 3/4 turn. if you get hagning idle, u went to far.
