Intake questionIt's mainly going to be a street machine, that will go to the track a few times a year, and it's not a daily driver, but I will be driving it quite a bit. Probably 10,000-12,000 miles per year, and it's a manual transmission. I'm looking for the right intake, and I want to keep the stock hood. I have a Weiand stealth on the 351W right now, and I was wondering if that would be a good choice for the increase in cubic inches? It's supposed to be rated from idle to 6800 RPMs on the 351, but I figure with those heads, and cubes it may not be sufficient for anything over 6000 RPMs. Thoughts? What are the thoughts on a single plane for what I'm doing? I know a lot of people don't like single planes for the street, but I already have hood clearnace issues, so something like an RPM air gap is out of the question, so would a single plane be a good compromise? I would really like to see in the 500hp range out of this. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not a fraid to spend a little money
![]() Honestly, I'd like to keep the build at no more than $10,000, and I'm doing the assembly myself, so that shouldn't be hard. I have a hookup on some parts too, for example, my scat stroker kit with H-beam rods and forged pistons i going to cost me about $1100.

a single plane would give up a little on the bottom end but with those extra cubes you will most likely need to go this route like a low to medium rise single plane manifold you may want to look into an edelbrock torker or torker 2 or if they make one for a 351w a weiand xcelerator or maybe you could get the stealth port matched.the hood clearance really limits your selections

Typically single plane intakes operate best from 2500 to 7000 RPM.
Your cam should work best in that range also (usually needs a roller cam). The heads & valves also need to flow enough air to support those RPMs. A stick trans doesn't care much about RPM range but automatics do. you would need a torque converter with at least 3000 RPM stall. |

Would a Torker II be a better choice than a Victor Jr? The heads will be worked over AFR 205s, so flow should be good. The intake will be port matched as well, and it will be a hydraulic roller cam.
