belt issue

i am having a problem trying to find a right belt size. i got rid of the smog pump and a/c also move the power steering pump up with a bracket that bolts to the water pump.if anybody has done this before on there 5.0 please let me know how i can solve this pain in the ass.

I use a sewing tape measure that is flexible and wrap it in the correct routing and measure what you need. I have done the same delete several different ways and the belts are usually .05 to 1 inch different on everyone we have.

i found a belt to fit it but when i let the tensioner down the belt laid on top of it self,so i went to the next size up and it was to small major pain in the ass

Where the top bolt of your alternator bolts in take a small but strong piece of metal and cut a groove in it making it adjustable. Take the tensioner off and adjust it old school style. You can go to Advance or any other parts place and get the long arm alternator bracket for a Chevy and cut it off to use it. I think it is $10 and already has the slot cut in it for ya. Your only gonna need 2-4 inches of where the slot itself is at.

I have several of these and they are a lot easier to install than they look. They work great when shortening a belt and look really nice under the hood.
