Hello. I am a 19 year old college studen living on my ow. I recently found a great deal on a 92 mustang 5.0 HO motor for my 1967 stang. The problem is it has GT40P heads. They require special headers that they just don't make for 1st gen mustangs. Since i am on a budget aftermarket heads are out of the equation. Recently a guy i know from work found a set of 302 heads from a 1968 mustang. C8OE casting i believe. The heads have been ported and polished and now sport 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust along with all the valve train equipment for a hydraulic roller cam. All from comp cams. he wants 3 hundred as he is moving p to AFRs and doesnt need anymore. This seems perfect for me at this moment givin my budget but desire to still have some degree of performance. My question is, using the stock 5.0 HO cam pistons and 1.6 ratio rockers, will i have piston to valve clearance issues with the 2.2 and 1.60 valves. Is there anyone running a similar setup utilizing stock components with this size valves? I don't want to purchase if i'm giong to have to notch pistons. Any experience or advicew would be great. You will have to mock it up and check the valve to piston clearance. Chances are you will run into problems with the 2.02 intake valve with stock 5 liter pistons.
