Short Block and Long Block


can someone please help me with this understanding.... the only difference between a short block and a long block is what it comes with?

yeppers. long block usually comes with heads and cams and sometimes a lil more.

a short block is the block with the crank,rods,pistons,bearings (both rod and main) and seals installed.

a longblock is all that plus heads, cams, oil pump and pickup, oil pan and dipstick. basicaly you just add your intake and fuel assembly to a longblock and go.
