Manifold removal and header install, help plz

Ok im in the middle of removal of my stock manifolds and took every bolt and nut off the motor mounts and tried to jack it up and its still connected somehow, ? So i took the two bolts off pass. side along with the bolt stud, then the two bolts studs on the drivers side along with the bolt. Which makes ll three on drivers n passenger side. I even removed the 21mm nut on both sides and still nothing. Am i missing something? oh and vehicle is 2003 GT.

Re: Manifold removal and header install, help plz

I thought it was possible to disconnect the motor mounts from the K member and jack up the motor as described in the instructions included with my aftermarket headers but i guess i was wrong. So now im just gunna drop the K-member. While i havent done it before i remember there being a link to a step by step somewhere in the exhaust page but i cant find it anymore. Anyone got that link? I think its complete directions to installing headers. Anyways, i give up on trying to trick my car into letting me do it the "easy" way.

Ok the easiest way to do it was to just drop the K-member, like previously posted. The instructions included with the Bassani Headers were full of shit. They made it seem possible to jack up the motor off the K-member when it didnt budge. To take the K-member off, I took off tires, disconnected both motor mounts, dropped the shock obsober off the body mount and went ahead and took it off the hub, disconnected the steering from the gearbox (which mounts on the kmember) then undid the two power steering lines and undid the 8 or so bolts and the Kmember dropped right down. I couldnt believe how much easier it was after this. Makes me kinda mad, after shredding my forearms for hours on the K-member and using all kinds of combinations of U-joint adapters and socket extentions of all varieties. There is a link to a website where a guy outlines and catalogs all of this with digital pictures, but i cant find it yet. But anyways good luck on yours bro.

you cant lift the engine off the K-member with the mounts still bolted up. I dont know the 4.6's and i dont see why it wouldn't work but i just unbolt the engine mounts from the k-member and lift it up by the balancer.

i tried lifting at the oil pan, but anyway its was 100% easier with Kmember removed, i had all kinds of room afterwards. Also when i tried i did have all bolts disconnected. I did have to remove the heat sheilds from the motormounts tho after headers were installed and the kmember was raised back up.
