best v6 exhuast?

What is the best performance muffler for a sn95 v6 without making it sound like a rice burner? im looking for more of a muscle tone although i m sure its tough for a v6...

flowmaster will give you a good sound, but magnaflow outperforms by 2-3 horsepower on stock 3.8's via a test by MM&FF.

power comes from ditching the catalytic converters. mufflers just add sound. for power, long tube headers, no cats and maganflows perform best.

yeah, about the cat thing, you could do what i am doing for my car

i am takeing out my cat (bolted on cat) and replacing it with a pice of pipe that i can bolt in its place, in other words i wont run a cat, but when it comes time to do emissions i can bolt the cat back on and essentially "cheat" emissions testing if my car is actually ever tested

not a bad idea. for a catted v6, maganflows will be really quiet (like a stock gt sound) and flowmasters will have a much louder idle over magnaflows. i got magnaflows because i knew an offroad exhaust with flowmasters would 1) sound shitty on a v6, and 2) get me in more trouble with the law.

on my 94 V6 i had true dual exhaust with cats and flowmasters and it sounded surprisingly good. did not sound "ricey" at all.

from listening to my car with just magnaflows and all 4 cats, it sounded like a civic compared to my brother's 96 v6 with 2 cats and flowmasters. i wouldnt recommend maganflows unless it was an offroad exhaust.

how much do you think a shop would charge to put dual flowmasters from cats back on my car?

You don't need a lift. Jackstands or ramps and a creeper will give you all the undercarriage access you need.

do u have headers and a midpipe?

if u do buy v8 exhaust... it sould match up and be a little cheaper, i think they figure since its more work to change the v6 exhaust to dual they can get more money for more parts of it.... seems to me like the v8 is cheaper

www.ninosport.com gives "forum pricing" off of the advertised prices. magnaflows came down 100 dollars from ad price for me. a high flow H pipe and a cat back for a GT of the same year as you car would cost you 100 more but would give you the exhaust you need so no hacking of the mid pipe is needed. i just made my own H pipe to match my long tubes and cat back.

badass until wide open throttle then it is really clanky and sounds like shit. has an awesome idle though and a good cruise tone. all exhausts on a v6 will sound like shit at WOT though
