Hollowed out Cats

I've searched and couldn't seem to find an answer to my question. If I hollowed out my cats would I feel a gain in HP? I have a stock exhaust and I don't care about passing emissions since I live in PA and I can easily get stickers for my car.

I'm just tossing in 2 cents but I highly doubt you will "feel" anything.

I doubt you will see much if any gains at all. It will get louder, but the chamber is so much bigger than the pipe sizing, it wouldnt work like you think.

The air will hit the empty cat, expand, then have to force itself back into a smaller pipe, whereas a regular cat will guide the air as it moves through.

if anything you will gain some low end torque (if any) due to the increased backpressure.

you prob would lose some throttle response, would'nt gain power, and it'd most likely sound like crap. just save up for an o/r mid-pipe and/or get a cat-back if you dont already have one, you'll be much happier. just my .02
