Home Depot will not be able to do that. Nothing they have will be able to get you a match because of the metallics. (I used to manage the paint department at Home Depot) What you will have to do is get a list of the color codes and go to an automotive paint store. They can mix pints for relatively cheap.

When someone wants a color, get the code from them... makes is simple.

If you go to Sherwin Williams they might give you a color book for Ford. I will also check with my buddy who is a painter to see if he can get me a color chart for you.

Were you able to snag one? I'm sure the paint shop I am going to will be able to pull up the codes.

Alright well the emblems are due in tomorrow. I decided to pull my current one off my car and attempt the project on it to see how hard it would be and how well it would turn out. I must say I am pretty impressed with the results! Unfortunately I had this sticker thing on the front of it for the past few months (a black superman thing that was given to me and I like the black better than the blue even if it was a little gay), and when I pulled it off I had some trouble getting all the glue off. I figured by heating it up with the blow dryer (what I needed to do to loosen up the glue under the plastic) the glue on front would come off, but it cooked it instead lol. So on the right side of it looks a bit f'd up but not to bad, I will use it for the time being.

Also experienced a blessing in disguise so to speak. As stated earlier I was pretty well convinced I would not be able to change the color of the inner chrome oval or the actual word "Ford" but in sanding my emblem down I angled the paper on one part of it in a way that it dug into the chrome lettering, completely removing all of the chrome in a small portion in the top of the F. At first I was pissed because it kinda stands out (you will be able to see in the pics I post when the paint is done drying), but I believe I can change the colors of the two now. Not going to make any promises yet though.

If I am able to though, it's going to be a little more work then previously believed and will be a tad more expensive, but still cheaper then you could buy a stock one at the stealership.

I am going to create a new thread in the FS exterior section for these here in a little bit and will post the link to it in here.

Looks great man, I would be so willing to get one painted Red and the Ford and chrome trip painted black.

The other emblems gives me an idea.. I would love for my side emblems to be black... hmm...

Oh ya, I know... was just saying it gave me the idea to. I have to replace my wiper cowl and im gonna paint my Cowl, Mirrors, and Foglight bezels gloss black so I thought I would do the emblems at the same time.

+1 for a good idea. I agree that if the chrome lettering and oval were black chrome and the background were colored it would look tight.
