So earlier today, I got pulled over for no front plate. let off with a warning. So far I've been running with no front for a year now. Theres no way in hell Im drilling holes in the front bumper and even the officer said not to do that to such a nice car. He recommended to buy a bracket.

So the question is, Should I mount the plate or not? Originally I have had the plate in the dash. I took it down about 2 months ago.

was also given a warning about my rear license plate frame. he said that the frame obstructed the county number. but I've been running that frame for years and never had a problem. so Im gonna say fuck it

rear plate

Howdy everyone. I'm new to the site, as well as new to the sudden knocking coming from my 2V. Having said that, lets pop my posting cherry.

I started hearing a knocking noise while idling the other day. Which was not present before. The motor is built, so everybody's first reaction is "Piston Slap", as it almost completely goes away when it reaches temperature, and disappears entirely at higher RPM. It was even my first assumption. However, the slaps I have heard before are more rapid than this knock. In theory, I should hear the knocking around 600 times per minute (at 600 rpm) if one piston is only hitting the cylinder wall once during its strokes. Twice as much if it strikes on the up stroke, as well as its down stroke. I may be over thinking this, but my knock happens far less. Its still consistent, but I'd say around 120 times a minute based on the knocking happening about 2 times a second. Also, I do not see how my motor can run without audible piston slap, and almost overnight, become such a loud knock. Those two things lead me to believe its not piston slap.

I've never dealt with "Rod Knock" but I do not see how that would go away once the motor reaches temperature. So rod knock doesn't seem to fit. Same thing with a "Spun Bearing". As soon as the knocking started, I got out of the car and did a quick walk around, with the hood closed, to see if I could determine where it was coming from exactly. But I could only hear it in the captains chair (I do have full exhaust, and a D1SC that may have masked the sound)! I have heard that cracks in Long Tubes (which I have), or Intake Manifolds can cause knocking, but how loud?. Even loose FlexPlate bolts (yes, I have an auto - and it rocks!), will knock like a mother. Wondering if someone has had similar symptoms, or any opinions as to the above info. I'll get around to digging into the issue mid-week. Until then, its just bugging me the more I think about it!

Thanks everyone.

This post is just so when people search (IF they search, which rarely happens) this will come up. But I see it in reference to the kb's a lot.

For those with a kenne bell, you know how minimal the clearance is on the drivers side (to the valve cover) now add in the 1/2" deck height difference of twisted wedge heads and its even tighter.

I originally modified the stock fox aluminum covers by clearancing the outer surface (which was just ugly) but it worked. I just installed Harland sharp 1.7 stud mount RR's and got it all to fit under stock covers off the sn-95 5.0. You will need to flatten out the indentation to clear the poly locks.

Cliff notes: STUD MOUNT ROLLER ROCKERS WILL FIT UNDER SN-95 STAMPED STEEL VALVE COVERS WITH MINIMAL CLEARANCING OF THE OIL BAFFLE AND THE INDENTED PORTION ON THE TOP OF THE COVER. THIS WILL FIT UNDER A KENNE BELL (even with tf heads)

I have what seems to me enormous battery cables. I don't have the clamps that screw down around the top posts like most cars. I think because the previous owner replaced them. I'm looking at replacing them with some off from eBay. My question is where should I run them to? I'm going to attempt to post two pics. The first one is where the positive cable is connected, and the second is just to show the size of the cables. Ok so I can't upload both photos so I'm not going to upload both, but what's that black piece mounted to the side of the fender? That's where my positive cable is connected.

Shoot to the bottom for the question.

Ok, after some deliberation and advice from friends and forum members, I have procured my suspension parts and am ready to install!

I don't need your opinion on the parts I chose, as they are already purchased, but I do understand I'll get your opinion anyways. Thanks.

I'll be installing:

-Steeda Sport Springs w/ stock isos
-Tokico Blue Fox Struts
-Tokico Blue SN-95 Shocks
-UPR adjustable LCAs w/ spherical/poly ends
-J&M 4 bolt caster/camber plates

With the plates (pic #1) I have several spacers provided (see pic #2). So my questions are as follows:

1. What spacers should I use on top or bottom with the fox struts?
2. What camber and caster should I request at my alignment center? Lots of positive caster, neutral camber and factory toe?
3. Should I grease the poly control arm bushings prior to install or after seeing if they need greasing?

Thanks for the help guys! Love this forum!
