Removing Window Tint The EASY Way!

The easiest way to remove window tint from a car window is to use a simple clothes steamer. I picked mine up from Target for about $20. This was from my Mercury Cougar. It had bubbled up purple tint on it and I thought it would be impossible to remove. I even called a tint shop and they wanted $200 + to do it. So I started looking around and found this way. WOW, was I surprised. Total of 1 hour to remove the rear window tint with NOTHING left behind. Don't use razer blades, you can damage rear defroster lines! Anyhow, you take the steamer and start steaming the shit out of a corner of the tint. Now here is the important part: GO SLOWLY!! I can't stress this enough. If you go too fast, the glue and the tint may separate and you'll have a mess to clean up. Trust me, it's worth it to go slow. Turn on some music, crack open a beer, and TAKE YOUR TIME. Best part is, if you get some overspray, no biggie, it's just water! :ohsnap It will proabably take at least a half hour per window to get the tint off. After you're done, you may have some glue left on the window, but not much. Take some Laquer thinner and use this to clean anything that's left on the window. After it's clean, use either some ammonia free cleaner if you're retinting the window, or just some windex if you're not to get the laquer smell out. Now you can see the Chevy's out of the rear window better as you pull away from them!!! Just wait until you sober up first :tomato

I don't exactly slam down hard when closing my trunk

the window deflectors (i think thats what there called) that were on my car when i got it started coming lose and the other day both of them snapped in half. This left a foot and a half line of glue or epoxy above both my windows and the other half of the visor still on my car. Any ideas on how to remove the glue and rest of the visor without hurting the paint? Thanks

Turtle Wax 'Black Box'

Alright so I've always been a little anal about all the small insignificant scratches that no one else can see. I know I am not the only one. Well a few weeks ago, as some of you know, someone key'd my car down the passenger side rear.

Image: http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk112/blackmustang00/mustang026.jpg

So after getting all pissed off, after hoping it was just a surface scratch, the hunt was on! I didn't want to spend the money to get the car re-painted or spend it to have just the one scratch fixed. I washed the car and the scratch was still there. Well I heard about a wax that was color matched for black. And as most of you know black is black. There isn't very many variations of it. Well I went into Advanced yesterday looking for this wax and I came across this Turtle Wax' Black Box'. The kid at the counter asked me if I had ever used this before I said no, but I'm fixing to find out if it works. Well I had this Meguiars Detail Spray that I used to clean it 1st since I knew it was going to be raining today. Well I used the steps on the box to a T. And here are the results.

Image: http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk112/blackmustang00/mustang027.jpg

I plan on using this over the entire car later on this week. I will take pictures of every little scratch that I know of and show before and after pictures. So for anyone with a black vehicle I recommend this product.

Yeah i know someone already posted up about this. Just figured I'd show a before and after. Enjoi!

I was just wondering because I want to repaint my car but have the professional clear coat shine to it. So which is better? I was going to buy the 4oz can of mystic blue paint from TCPglobal.com and use duplicolor clear coat I know you have to buff it and polish afterwards but they should both look the same right?
I fixed my sideskirts and was going to paint them blue (my car is silver btw) but I plan on doing it sections at a time like one day the hood the next the trunk until its just the body left. but was wondering for the car spray cans or buy the spray guns I already have an air compressor but nowhere to paint at.

I had my hood painted 3 months back, and I don't know what these light blue dots are (primer?), but they were left on my car. I was told not to wash my car for a month after painting, so I kind of forgot about these for a while. Car has been washed maybe 4 or 5 times since then but these specks haven't come off yet. I'm planning to clay and wax my car this weekend, so how do I get these things off? It's kind of tedious going after each individual speck with my fingernail, plus I don't know if it's good for the paint. If anyone has suggestions on how to get these things off, please chime in :)

Thanks!

Morning everyone. As title says, I've got some questions about my baby's pinstripes...

So, I got her about a year ago from a little-old lady who really LOVED and cared for this car . She always kept in garage, all maintainance at regular times, washed/waxed/detailed about twice a month (by her live-in maid....she and husband were deff. well-off). Apparently she had always wanted a white mustang convert, so it really was her dream car.

Well she even went as far as having custom pinstripping done. I think its supper cool looking, and is unique. Whoever she had do it did a really good job with nice little details/touches to spice up; unlike the straight boring ones you usually see. Hell, she even has her initials on drivers side door, worked into the striping. It's very small and hard to see, however, so I figured I'd just leave that. Might be bad luck to change 'the car's name'...like with a boat.

But I don't have a garage, so she's always outside since I bought it. And, I don't have a place to wash her myself, so she is always forced to use mechanical carwashes.......I know, I know what you'd all say......

I cringe everytime I watch those destructive spinning spikes of death twirling and scraping along my car. And now it looks like my abusive behavior has lead to areas of the pinstriping to start chipping off, and kind of fading in some spots. Not too bad yet, but deff noticable in spots up close.

????? My questions ???????

1. Is it too hard to buy some gold auto touch-up paint, tape it all off and re-apply myself--just copying what is already there?

2. Any one have ballpark idea of the cost of having a pro fix/re-paint this type of thing?

3. Anyone else have painted stripes....and have tips to protect in the future? (Besides staying away from the harsh mechanical car wash)

Thank you all in advance. Pics posted arn't the best of the strips (all I had now), but I'll try to get some more close up of the stripes.
