while trying to upload avatar i get this

Unable to upload file

what does this mean. my little clips used to work fine and now none of them will work as the avatar. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanx for the great site!

there might have been some sight maintnence at the time you tried.. have you tried it again at all?

The only reason I can think of that you'd get an error on that line was if the file format was wrong (the extension didn't match the header in the file). Try uploading a different image.

i've tried 15-16 different ones. i havn't changed anything in the way that i load them up. i have tied on many idfferent occasions. i can get a pic to work but one that has any movement or a little action to it won't work. nwyas thanx again!

I've deleted and uploaded my animated gif a few times now, and no problems. Unfortunately, line 249 is just a general error and doesn't track down the specific problem in the file. I added another check in the file for the filetype, maybe that will help solve your problem, I dunno. See if it helps. If not, attach a non-working avatar to a post here so I can see if there is any problem with it.

Check the file size. If it is too large (larger than 50,000 bytes) It will not load. You have a specific file size and dimensions that you can not excede when loading an avatar.

*EDIT*

I tried to load it for you and I also tried another version of the same file and the message I got was that the file was too large. (146,000 bytes) You can add it to your signature if you would like by using image tags but You will have to find something smaller for your avatar.

The boss is correct, the file size is too large. We'll temp allow that file size to be uploaded. Try it now. In the future, we may have more strict rules on avatar sizes... so keep that in mind. I'm sure that gif can be optimized to under 50kb.

I already cheated on that one Joe.

My avatar was too big so I changed the allowance from 25,000 to 50,000 bytes.
