MAD Subforum

Administrators or Moderators, whomever can help me with this, I'd really appreciate it.

Due to the MAD Crew being started and pretty much taking over the Northeast section, I was wondering (and hoping) we could get our own subforum within the Northeast section.

I believe with that section, it could help keep clutter down from making numerous threads for every single meet we have, since most of them will be held within a few weeks of each other. I figured it'd be better than having a lot of topics in the Northeast section while other people not in the group are trying to find those around them and talk about what's going on in their areas.

Is it possible?

No, sorry. If we give you guys a subforum then we have to give the hundreds of other 'crews' a subforum. Do like the Cobra Club guys do and keep it in one thread.

One thread? lol

Cobra Crew is also a nationwide crew, not a regional crew with lots of meets.

If no is still the answer, then no it is. Just thinking it would help keep us from cluttering the northeast section so much.

What about seperating the northeast/southeast and making a Mid-Atlantic section that included Virginia (NoVa), Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey?

I am sure the cobra club sees much more activity in that one thread then you guys do. And that definitely keeps the clutter to a minimal. Tell me why one thread wouldn't work.

But I could see possibly splitting up the Northeast section, but then again, if what you say holds true you guys would just clutter up that section.

Indeed, the Cobra club sees a lot of action. However, as Smith had stated, the CC is a nationwide club. The MAD club is a Mid-Atlantic club (hence the name "Mid Atlantic Domestics").

We are a regional club, which allows us a lot more close-knit meets and group-outtings. One thread wouldn't work for that due to the number of meets we are planning on having throughout the spring/summer/fall seasons. There is a lot of deciding, going back-and-forth motions, etc. in deciding what we will do on the available times people have.

If the Northeast section was atleast split up into a section to where Mid-Atlantics were separate, that would so work because it'd strictly be Mid-Atlantics. That way, those from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York (whomever happens to be in those places) wouldn't have to deal with the clutter from the Mid-Atlantic region. We would be able to keep more tabs on what is done in our section for the club and those whom wish to just come out and have fun with us.

I still do not understand how this could not be done in one thread? Or maybe start one of those free forums for you guys?

Because alot of ideas, dates, and places get thrown about and when it comes time for the actual meet, people end up showing up in three different places because it's unorganized and spread across several pages with nothing concrete. A new thread on each meet allows for attendence lists (cause if we're going to a sit in resturaunt like D&B or BWW, then we need that list for reservations), and it would allow for organization so everyone knows what's going on. I've played the one thread game before, it never works when you have 20+ members of the crew posting up different ideas and it becomes a cluster F to the point that people start backing out because they're just straight up confused. Even in just our one thread for our second meet, we have maybe 10-12 members posting in there and it's gotten confusing as to what and where the actual meet is and that's just one meet. Imagine trying to organize 3-4 meets across 15-20 pages in that thread, it's gonna get confusing and people aren't gonna want to attend.

If its that complicated, then like I said maybe you guys should look into phpBB or whatever that free forum software is.

Starting a whole separate forum for ourselves would be a waste of time and effort. We only wanted a section for our own meets, we don't need a whole forum.

If it's too much trouble on your part, or whoever elses part to give us a separate section, that's fine. No harm done.

Just figured we'd ask.

Like I said earlier, its not that we just want to be asses and say no, but if we give you guys a sub forum, then we have to give every other crew one too.

That's understandable. I thought that since most clubs/crews here were more on the national level, and since we are regional it'd be different. But oh well, no harm done. It was worth a shot.

On Focaljet.com, we have our own private sub-forum that we pay the site for. It's very cheap and the total comes out to a mere $14 from each member per year. Any chance of "renting" a sub-forum to ourselves on here?

What if the crew could get it's own sub-forum once it reached a XX amount of members? Say 30 members?

Just ideas.

The money situation would be out of my hands, but it would probably be more along the lines of vendor status, which would be much more than 14 dollars a year between members. But you can email don@autoforums.net for questions on that. But no, even with 30 members, I doubt forum would not be created. I am sorry guys, but I promise you, you guys would benefit a lot more by creating a FREE forum.

I think a fair compromise might be a Mid-Atlantic sub-forum inside of the Northeast section. It's not our own forum so there's no "hey that crew got their own forum" kind of stuff, but the Mid-Atlantic region often gets its own separate section on many other forums I frequent. There is a high level of automotive activity specifically in the MD/VA/DC/DE area and it often clutters forums of the "true northeast" like PA, NJ, OH, NY, ME, CT, RI, MA, NH, and VT.

The area isn't quite the southeast nor is it the northeast, the Mid-Atlantic is recognized as its own gig on most other forums.

Actually, while I'm on this subject, I would also like to note that I personally find the regional sectioning of this forum to be confusingly vague. I have seen several threads in the main regional area from members who aren't quite sure where their posts belong.

Michigan/Ohio:
Northeast or Midwest? Could be either, depending on what area you're in. Cleveland would probably be called Northeast, while Cincinnati would identify themselves as Midwest. And then Detroit could be Northeast, but the Upper Peninsula is very much the Midwest.

Kentucky/Arkansas:
Southeast or Midwest? Again, depends on where you live in the state as to what particular area you prefer to identify yourself with.

Colorado:
Southwest or Midwest? Could go either way.

Maryland/Virginia:
Northeast or Southeast? I've seen them grouped either way on different forums.

Just my personal opinion, but I believe the entire regional section could do with a bit more clarification as what exactly goes where.
