Slow.... site....

I don't know what it is, but even when it's slow this site takes forever to load a page. I can wander through 4-5 different forums, read, and type a response to several threads elsewhere before this one even bothers to load.

Is there something going on with the server? auto backups? upgrades? anything that causes this? I know it's not my connection.

Your right, the server load has been alittle high for a few days and is around 4 right now (was probably around 10 when you made that post, as that's when the stats are parsed... lemme optimize the database and restart apache and see if it clears up.

It's a pain to run and maintain a server, especially if you are hosting multiple sites. There are so many factors that can affect speed, it's ridiculous. Forums are also really intense when it comes to processor load.

I have all of my sites hosted on a VPS, and it is a pain in the ass to get them all running smoothly all the time. You really can't understand the difficulty unless you've experienced it first hand.
