Pictures in FS threads

Why aren't we required to provide pictures and all the information we used to have to provide? Half the threads don't even have pictures of the shit people are selling.

We decided to basically let it roll for the most part. It is the buyers responsibility to check everything before making a purchase.

Idk if you are on S197 or not, but on there they make sellers post a picture of whatever they are selling with the date and their SN on it. I think that would be something worth requiring here. Not everyone is internet savvy or aware of what kind of scum bags are out there. I understand its not the forums fault if someone gets duped by a picture of a part that isn't the OPs, but it would make it safer, don't you think?

It certainly would, and I'd recommend never dealing with a seller that didn't post a picture of what they're selling.

It just came down to how much moderation the classified were requiring. Remember that your friendly local mods are all volunteers, and our energy was felt to best be directed elsewhere.

Trust me. We've tried all sorts of classified rules and what not. No matter what we did people bitched. So now, it's all 100% between the buyer and seller. Personally, I wouldn't buy anything without seeing a few pictures first.

If you guys don't want to moderate the classifieds and are looking for a volunteer, I'd certainly be willing. I think requiring some kind of standard for the classifieds is a good idea. I hate seeing dumbass threads there going "selling cold air intake 150 pm me." Its stupid. What kinds of complaints did people have?

I think we have it covered. We spent alot of time working it out. We scrapped the majority of the requirements because they were not followed anyway. Like previously stated it is "Buyer Beware" now. If you want a pic just PM the seller and ask for one.

Lame. I think that's one of the sections that NEEDS moderation te most. It's the only one that deals with money and member-to-member exchanges. I'd rather have hurt feelings from an insult in a different thread than get fucked out of my money in this one. You guys should seriously reconsider

I've had no problem posting pictures, description, price, name, and location. It is not difficult at all. If someone doesn't, warn them once. If they don't fix it in 24 hours, delete it

Well people might complain its too hard to post pictures, list where they are, or put their name up there. Its silly to me. People can make multiple screen names and scam people over and over again if you don't require basic info. It makes it easier to identify trustworthy people and people who are known to be shitheads. Not requiring info like that will make this site a haven for assholes that have been bumped from other sites. Not even 2 weeks ago there was a guy trying to sell parts on here that had gotten the boot from S197. A few members came forward in a thread, and through some great detective work, they were able to determine the guy had scammed people on several other boards, and had judgments in excess of 20K for his dishonest parts selling.

It's just not worth the time to continue to fight the people of the classifieds. Many attempts and changes have been done to the classifieds in attempts to keep it right, but people just don't follow anything. So if someone just posts a simple ad with nothing on there, then they just won't sell their product unless someone is simple enough to just buy it with no information. It is up to the buyer to make sure they aren't getting scammed. It is not the responsibility of moddedmustangs.

Corrals classifieds suck. It's not that hard to make a clear black and white public policy that I it doesn't meet the criteria, it will be deleted, no questions asked.

Why is it such an issue for you? If you can't get the info you want from PMing the seller then just don't buy it.

Because its a pain looking through thread titles for something specific, such as injectors, and when I find one that has injectors for sale and click on, if there's no pictures or info, it's a pain and a waste of time. It's not that big of a deal, but it shouldn't be a big deal to moderate it either. And you have two people willing to do it do I don't see what the problem is
