Forums Need Moderating

The atmosphere in the forums needs to be better moderated. Replies that are offensive or off topic should be addressed by the moderators.

The moderators themselves need moderating....have you taken a look at some of their avatars? It seems a bit rediculious to ask a moderator to address an offensive post, when the moderator uses an avatar that itself is offensive.

Both male and female, from all age groups visit this site, but you'd never know it from the lack of moderation in the forums.

The founder of the site claims that "we pride ourselves in maintaining a positive and helpful atmosphere for Mustang owners to share their experiences in getting the most out of Ford’s ponycar."

One of the reasons this forum remains so popular is due to the fact that the people that run it believe in low moderation. In turn, there are some side effects to that such as more arguing, and definitely some very blue humor along the way.

If certain avatars offend you, disable them, as it appears you have no interest in using one yourself. You can do so in your profile. I believe the majority of us have gotten to know each other well, and as such we can tell when we are joking around with each other. If some of our humor offends you, well, I won't say I apologize, but I can say I understand if you have different views on life.

But does that in turn mean the majority should stop making dick jokes because it offends a few? Indeed, that is for the moderators, and ultimately, Joe, to decide.

I am perhaps one of the worst 'offenders' if you wish to call it that, at crude humor. But cruise through the forums for a while. You will also see I answer every single post that I may have knowledge about as thoroughly as possible, and I almost always provide links, diagrams, and pictures along the way. I help people learn how to put up pictures, hyperlinks, and I will make signatures for people. I defy you to say that I merely whore up every thread. I always respond with useful information, and I never whore up a thread where someone is asking for legitimate information and has not received said information yet.

For sure I whore it up along the way, and make dumbass jokes. But I do this for a reason. It's because I love this forum, and I am doing my part to help keep people smiling, and keep the place active.

I think you're taking the jokes too seriously, personally, whateveryournicknameis. lol

(that's a joke^. You chose the screen name brother.)

Moderation keeps the forums insightful and informative. Off topic replies stifle discussion and deter others from contributing, once a thread becomes hijacked with sarcasm and jokes.

Moderation also helps keep some legitimacy to subscription notifications by email. I find myself increasing unsubscribing to topics on this site because the original topic is ignored, and the ensuing discussion becomes nothing more than tasteless babble.

Out of all the Mustang forums I have visited, this one by far answers the most questions with the most informative insight. As I sit here trying to think of threads where the original posters question was ignored, none come to mind. I am sure they exist, but overall, this forum and it's members does an excellent job of helping people.

As for stifling discussion, I've not seen another Mustang forum with better discussion than this one, but that's my opinion. I seem to recall you responding to a thread about hood pins with a crack about 'rice'. Was that to be interpreted as sarcasm, or just your honest opinion?

My point being that with so many members here, we're bound to have disagreements from time to time. It's my opinion that excess moderation would kill this forum. 99% of the members here seem to have a good time here, and learn the answers to their questions.

It's a two-way street man. In order to have so much information from so many people, you have to have a certain level of real world chat. If you know of a forum that exists with 1/4 of the information here, but has absolutely no jokes, and just 100% technical information, I've yet to see it.

I see you have 12 posts. Now, I understand that doesn't necessarily mean you don't browse the forum, but let me ask, how much of this forum are you reading? Just the 05+ section, or all of it? Because I cruise through every section, answering questions when i can. And in the process, I have NEVER seen a forum like this. Where a person starts a thread, and 90% of the time their question is answered within minutes, by multiple people, with great information. If I have to read past 4 or 5 silly jokes to get that information, I'll survive. I don't have a problem having fun while I'm learning and helping people.

I can't stand the stupid post whoring that goes on in the tech area or in any thread for that matter. When somone is trying to have a legitimate conversation whether it be technical or not, the thread should not be whored up with childish bullshit. There are plenty of whore threads that get started for that purpose. Whoring up someone elses thread is not necessary and is very annoying. I guess I'm the minority though......

Darrell I agree with you about the blatant post whoring, and I avoid that in the tech threads. I guess the argument could be made that I crack a lot of jokes, and maybe that invites off topic bullshit, but I do my best to provide legitimate answers in tech threads.

Ok well it seems that certain people think they are over-moderated and some people think they are under-moderated...

I only moderate the Modular Section...I try and keep it as clean as possible...But off-topic happens and when I find it I fix it...I either move the post or delete the off-topic jargon...

If the avatars are offensive then pm a mod or admin and please link the avatar you find inappropriate...If it is found to be inappropriate then it will be removed...We have removed many peoples avatars here because of that reason...Look back and look at how many people were butt-hurt when we took there offensive avatar away...

I have seen and fixed the off-topic jargon that you were speaking of...But I don't get on the computer until about 1900 EST...And I try and clean it up as much as possible...

Don't just stick in the 05+ section bro...Check out the whole forum...You will see for the most part it is pretty light on moderation but it is moderated where it needs to be...I agree some people don't moderate as much as they could...If you see something pm a mod or admin...

I am always answering PM's...I get around 120 or so PM's per week...And I answer every single one of them...And if I see something that needs to be brought up to Mdvaldosta I will do so...

I think we do a pretty good job here...I think this is a great forum...We have people from all different walks of life, ages, races, sexes, and attitudes...Mixing all that together and you are going to get your off the wall people and such...We keep them on the right path as much as we can...But what you might see as offensive it might be funny or ok to that person...If its offensive to you then say something a mod and admin...We have no problem telling someone to lay off, change avatars, cool down, etc...

Its a forum and not everyone is going to see it the way that you do...But then again it is vice versa...

I am not harping on you...Just letting you know that this forum is not as bad as you might think...

Give it a try and if you don't like it I will refund you your membership fee personally...

-Chris

I wasn't naming anyone. Alot of us do it. Its not really a big deal, I was just voicing my opinion. I'm not going to walk in front of a bus over it.

there's no such thing as a utopia

ppl like this guy are always gonna be around, and ppl like NBA and his chronies are always gonna be around

not everyone can be happy, so you have a choice

where would you rather be? a member a 3rd-world forum, where the government censors you and controls everything you do and can randomly ban ppl for no reason? or how about a forum with a bunch of nazi moderators that will ban you for saying "shit?"

or would you rather be here? in a forum where ppl can do pretty much w/e the fuck they want? you still get the info on either of these sites.

where would you rather be? america, drug-warring columbia, or nazi germany? they all have perks and problems, and it's your choice

we can refer you to MF or a nazi-modded mustang site if you want..
