waxing vinyl stripes
There is a major mixed response as to whether or not you should wax over vinyl stripes....should you? I'd be doing it gently, by hand of course. I'm going to be using a carnauba paste wax.
Is it also OK to claybar the stripes?

I'd avoid using the clay bar on them, it might scratch them. I'd avoid using any carnuba paste wax without knowing it's going to do. There are lots of waxes that will stain vinyl stripes and plastics. There are also lots of waxes that don't. In my opinion, this is the only time I'll ever recommend this product because it simply sucks, use Turtle Wax ICE on the stripes. It won't stain them and it will offer a degree of protection. Than wax everything else with a good quality carnuba wax.

ok, thanks. I waxed around them the best i could with a cheap carnauba wax. this pic is probably kinda out of place here, but fuck it, i worked up a sweat doing it
![]() ![]() this was done by hand because i dont have a PC yet. I will go back and do a layer of ICE on the stripes.

i had white vinyl stripes for over a year (the cheap $14 ones from Advance Auto) and had no problem w/ waxing on them...just do it by hand and no buffer...reason for taking them off...wanting to paint them on lol

Most 100% pure Carn waxes won't stain vinyl. Notice I said MOST. I know that Souveran and Fuzion Estate don't as well as P21S 100%.
