The MGuires NXT wax gets a TON of good reviews. It's slightly more than the others, but I've heard of it's greatness.

BTW if you haven't already, I'd buy a claybar kit and go over your car with it before you wax it. IMHO of course.

Save your money on the buffer and do some research first. The stickies here are a good place to start.

I spent some time reading up at Autopia.org forums. They seem to swear by the Porter Cable 7424 DA polisher and a few lesser known higher end products. Lots of info there on product selection and techniques.

The stickies here are a great place to start. Then if you have any more questions feel free to post up. I am always up to giving advice, as is a few others like NastyStang and Zinc. Of course, with detailing you will never learn everything, but I will share what I know.

Beginner: Porter Cable 7424. Swear by it. Use it.
Autogeek.net is the site I learned ALOT from. Weems was also very helpful in the research. It is a wonderful investment and you can make a nice chunk of change once you get the hang of it. My input on the waxes mentioned here. Meguire's Gold Class is a very nice wax. For OTC, it's a good one, but doesn't last terribly long. Mother's. Most of you guys have probably used the cleaner wax that comes with the clay kit. Don't use it... It does as it says, it cleans. It's not a last step product and does not need to be left on as one. Use the Gold Class or NXT if you are using OTC. Poorboy's Natty's Paste Wax is a good choice in my opinion.

Yup. THe PC 7424 is perfect for a novice by all means. It is literally fool proof. You could sit there holding the buffer in the same spot for a solid minute, thoguh not recommended, and it won't burn through the paint.
Meguire's has a real nice series of videos on youtube where they video taped a class that goes through everything from wetsanding to rotary to DA buffers. It's very informative.
