Where to buy: Porter Cable
I found one for $119 + shipping at Autogeek. Anyone know of a cheaper place?

That's a good price. Is it like a "bundle"? I was price shopping for one a while back and I think AutoGeek was the best bang for the buck...

It has the Polisher, a counter weight, a wrench (whats this used for?), and a polishing pad.
My girlfriend is bein the best and getting me one for christmas, then im gonna take money I get from the folks (they always just give me cash insted of a big gift) and buy the pads and the XMT line so I can get rid of theses damn water spots and swirls on my paint.

Wow, great price.
I borrowed the 7424 from a friend, but picked up the orange and gray polishing pads from Justin at Obsessive. The Optimum polish worked well for me. Buffer Learned how to do it right on youtube.

Porter Cable polishers are perfect. You cant swirl the paint, even directly in the sun! (not that I'd ever recommend you wax your car in direct sunlight) I would also check eBay for a cheaper price. We got our one at work a few years ago at Barrett Jackson, it came in a bundle with pads and waxes. We've since bought three more, they are amazing!

GOOD CHOICE!!!!
Dude, you'll love it man. Weems suggested to me that for water spots you may want to look into Menzerna... Here's the drawback though. Menzerna stuff is a little more difficult to use than the XMT stuff. While the XMT line is FANTASTIC (I know because I use it ), there's still some limitations.I recommend getting the POS34A and using a yellow pad with it. Follow it up with the XMT #3 on an orange pad, then the XMT #2 on an orange pad, and last the XMT #1 on a white pad. If it's a dark colored car, glaze it with the XMT Glaze with a black pad. A glaze will give it that 'pop' or 'crisp' look. Apply the sealant and wax by hand to save on product and ensure a proper application in all areas. That $120 price tag is about right. Also, avoid those kits. They ALWAYS leave shit out. You never get everything that you truley need. The counterweight is for 6.5" pads. I've always been told though, the smaller the pad, the more cut. I personally use 5.5" pads, but I'll need a counter weight for a few pads that I will be buying here soon. The buffing pad it comes with can be very versatile. I used it with the XMT #2 once to see how it'd do and it turned out great. I got great results on the doors and fenders with that combo. I used a KB-esque method with it to get my results though (spread polish on pad with fingers, spin for a second, reaaply a little more polish, press down really hard on area on speed 6, come back with a slightly lighter pressure, then make one final pass with a very light touch letting the buffer spin as fast as possible while still making paint contact). Hood, trunk, and roof I compounded because they had taken the worst beating of all as with most cars and I didn't want to have to go back a redo shit. This pic is the result of the XMT line ( I used their compound on this one, but I still have 2 water spots on my hood scoop, hence why I recommend the Menzerna stuff) Also, remember, this is a yellow car. Imagine it on black or blue.
