Review: CarPro PERL Dressing

CarPro PERL Tire Dressing

Description:
PERL is water based silicon oxide, solvent-free, hydrophobic, that provides great satin shine and revives faded P.E.R.L surfaces. While it can easily spray, it has great cling to keep it on the surface with life time up to 3 months.

PERL has no chemical solvents which can cause damage to tires; furthermore PERL contains high degree UV protecting to keep the surface from yellowing, cracking and sun damage fading. PERL will stop leather from cracking and protect from dirt and stains penetrate the surface. Treated surfaces require less cleaning and will remain in like-new condition. It restores the original finish to vinyl, rubber, plastic, acrylic, and leather.

P.E.R.L and vinyl surface stay supple, flexible, and retain their color with regular use of PERL.

All surface coated create satin shine, non greasy, non oily absorbing substance, and with great smell as well.

PERL water based formula provides great durability on all tires, interior and exterior trim, vinyl and dashboards.
Size: 500ml
Packaging: Plastic bag like container with screw cap.
Color: Milky-White

Observation: The product looks very similar to Opti-Bond in both apperance and consistency. It also smells very close to it. I was not thrilled by the plastic bag it came in considering Detailer's Domain has a bottle pictured.

Test Subject: My car's front driver side tire.
Comparison: Opti-Bond
Dilution: Full Str and 1:1

My first order of business was to apply Opti-Bond to one section of the tire. You can see below each stage.

No buffing, Opti-Bind left, bare tire right

Buffed Opti-Bond left, bare tire right

PERL applied right, no buffing, buffed Opti-Bond left
If you notice... PERL goes on a lot thicker/milkyer (yes, I made a word) than Opti-Bond. Continue reading to see the end result after buffing.

PERL, no buffing

Opti-Bond Left, PERL right, buffed.
At this point both dressings are dry to the touch, and appear to be the same shine. The Flash makes it look glossy, but it was a flat black that appered clean.

PERL top, uncoated bottom

Opti-Bond top, uncoated bottom

PERL
Very dark apperance, and soaked into the crevices well. The thicker nature gave it a more uniform coverage.

Opti-Bond
Not as dark, and did not get into the crevices nearly as well.

PERL 1:1 curing, not buffed
I applied PERL at 1:1 on this tire. The application was MUCH eaiser and felt great. I used a foam brush. It really got into all the areas of the tire. It buffed off to a NICE satin sheen.

Results: PERL was the winner here in my opinion. The application felt more fluid, It soaked into the rubber and the tread much eaiser, The apperance was darker, and the touch was smoother.

I plan to apply this to my DD truck soon. This will give us a good note on durability. However, as of now, PERL is my new go-to dressing. I used about half the bag to make an 8oz bottle of dressing at 1:1. So it comes out to about $0.89/oz.

Trim Application: It works GREAT on trim. At 1:1 it gave the trim a DARK and deep look. It is completely dry to the touch.

It looks very similar to Meguiars Hyperdressing at 4:1 same. It too is runny since its diluted but very good and lasts trough a few washes I also like 303 Aeroospace Protectant, Mothers Reflections Tire Care, and Opti-Bond Tire Gel at full strength all are very good tire dressings.
