cleaning exhaust tips

I tried searching through some things on here but couldn't really find anything on exhaust tips. i have Borla stingers and when i went to the track, i got black little specs all over the tips. I tried cleaning with a brush but it didn't really help. This was a couple months ago, so it's probably too late, but what would be some ways i could really try to get them nice and clean?

You can wash with an All purpose cleaner like Zep Citrus at a 3:1 dilution you can get it a Home depot for $10 a gallon. Then use #0000 Steel wool followed by Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish polished in with a microfiber applicator then followed by Mothers Billlet polish used the same way. Just remove the residue with a separate microfiber towel, if you done have any quality ones get the softest ones you can find locally. Then apply a sealant or coat of wax over them. They will look like mirrors when your done. All these products can be had locally which is great because most autoparts stores carry Mothers and so does walmart. The #0000 steel wool can be found in the paint/hardware section in walmart just make sure you get #0000.

I also have some black specs from the track right behind the rear wheel as well. Its not that bad, but i was wondering if there was anything i could use to get that off. Clay bar doesn't work because I've clayed it already and it didnt help. Thanks!

Rub it with gasoline. Just make sure the tips are cold.

Stoners tarminator or 3M general adhesive remover or Mothers R3. Spray it on let it sit for a minute then wipe gently with a microfiber, sometimes it take 2 or 3 applications to remove it all. And please dont use gas LOL.

Don't use gas to clean anything on a car. There are MUCH safer and less aggressive ways to clean anything.

Only time I use gas to clean anything is on my hands when tarring a roof Lol.

No problem man told you #0000 works great if you were to follow that up with a metal polish like I suggested they will look like mirrors

That's what I use on mine too. Works great, even eats right through the carbon on the inside of the tips.

Neverdull works nice but #0000 steel wool does a better job at cleaning them up, never dull is good to use to maintain them after.

Really what I need to do is take the catback off and polish it to a mirror finish. Stock its just bare steel. And since you can actually see the Catback on IRS cars it makes a huge difference.
