Detailing...

I've learned a ton over the past year about it but idk i still have some blank/grey areas but anyway

i've got some questions

just looked at a thread that answered one

for washing microfibers and terry cloth towels, rinse on gentle warm with cg microfiber detergent (some say add a second cycle)--no fabric softener

grit guards worth it?

what are some good cheap microfibers? i figure whatever is on CG

opinion on adams? they seem good but definitely over priced, i want to try some of their stuff out, they say if im unhappy they'll refund 110%.. i just feel like thats bs and they'll claim something random and not refund me (ex. i didn't apply product properly)

hand polishing.. best combo? i've heard good things aobut adams polish and paint revive?

any products to definitely stay away from?

had a friend telling me that tire shine can really damage my tires, and potentially dry rot them, i disagreed ?

best cheap detailing spray?

any must haves for detailing?

how can you cut your time down in detailing? it takes me forever, i'm a perfectionist but still..

waxing in sunlight, ( i think polishing too) --dont do this, but it almost always seems to be sunny when i want to wax

good low cost wax?

carpet cleaner? i have some rusts in carpet that have bled through it..idk car came like that

idk thats all off the top of my head, for now lol

1. wash the way I suggested in the other thread

2. These or these

microfiber, microfiber towels, car care products, auto detailing, house cleaning, micro-restore, micro restore, df towels, microfiber

https://store.mothers.com/product_in...d=246&cPath=13

3. Adams makes goo products an yes they will refund you back the product 110%

4. Any polishing don by hand isnt going to yield much correction unless you using one of the Scholl Concept polishes which you would have to import from the UK. I say give the Adams hand polishingkit a go but dont expect tremendous results.

5. stay away from anything armor all

6. best detailing spray for the price that I have used is this

Automotive Detail Quick Detail Spray and Clay Lube With Carnauba

7. 2 bucket, grit guards and plenty of quality microfiber and a blower or Metro Master Blaster

8. There are some tire shines that will do that like he Meguiars hot shine aerosol verions but quality boutique protectants wont do that at least I have yet to hear any one state that they do.

9. Low coat good wax Autoglym HD

FS: Used Uber Pads, AG HD Wax, Swissvax Waxes

10. Capet cleaner and all purpose cleaner Zep citrus use at 4:1 or 3:1 a gallon is $10 at home depot it has so many uses.

It is good to send them through another rinse cycle. Some people add a bit of Vinger in there on the second rinse to aid the plushness of the MF. I do this every once and awhile.

grit guards worth it?

Yes. Some people do the 2x4 method. 2 Gritguards in each bucket.

The yellow MFs from CG are good. Also, AG sells some that are called Super Soft MFs with Rolled Edges (green & blue). I use them from wax removal.

Adams is a good brand, but they are pricey. My first "boutique" products came from them. There are better products however.

hand polishing.. best combo? i've heard good things aobut adams polish and paint revive?

Well, your first problem is gonna be hand polishing, Lol. I would suggest Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish. They are good combo that be had OTC at Walmart, Autozone, ect.

any products to definitely stay away from?

This is a hard thing to say. As you learn things, you will notice trends that companies use to make a product sound like God himself gave it to us. That will queue you to stay away.

had a friend telling me that tire shine can really damage my tires, and potentially dry rot them, i disagreed ?

If they contain silicone, it can cause adverse effects. enough to dry rot and cause a tire replacement? Doubtful. I use CarPro P.E.R.L dressing and I love it. Nice low gloss new look.

best cheap detailing spray?

CG P40 that Danny suggest is the best value. You can also look into DoDo Juice Basic of Bling Detailing Spray or Prima Slick. The last one is quite pricey however.

any must haves for detailing?

Ohhh man... thats a loaded question. Paitence, money, and time... Lol.

how can you cut your time down in detailing? it takes me forever, i'm a perfectionist but still..

As you learn you will get better and fast. My first full detail took me 28 hours. Now, I can do a 1-step polish, wax, and everything else in a day. (about 8 hrs)

waxing in sunlight, ( i think polishing too) --dont do this, but it almost always seems to be sunny when i want to wax

All I can suggest here is to try and find some shade. There are some waxes that claim to work in Sunlight, but it will make your life difficult Lol.

good low cost wax?

I would suggest either Meguiar's Gold Class, Mother's SynWax, or Natty's Red/Blue.

carpet cleaner? i have some rusts in carpet that have bled through it..idk car came like that

Folex from Home Depot. Great stuff.

idk thats all off the top of my head, for now lol
Hope this helps ya out some

As for not waxing and polishing in the sun, I use a pop up canopy. They're cheap and are the next best thing to a garage.

thanks for input, repped, and whats a typical canopy price, like 150? also wont the sun hit it from the size, because the canopy is only directly above?

poorboys can be used in direct sun with no issues.
All Poorboy’s products are designed to be the easiest to use. Unlike the others, Poorboy’s is just fine to apply in the sun. For us sun-belt dwellers especially, it is a dream come true! Any time, anywhere you can beautify and protect your car, maintaining a deep, liquified gleam and glimmer. (Shade’s fine, too!) The finish will be smooth, silky and crisp. First-class results, as good as any you can achieve with any product, at any price level!

They can, yes... however I bet you it still makes it a bit harder to use. Wax would dry much faster, for example. Even though they can be used in the sun, it adds a degree of difficulty.

However, if you cant get out of the sun the yes... Poorboys would be a good choice. They two waxes I suggested to you OP are Poorboys.

Prima Banana Gloss is also a good and easy wax to apply in direct sunlight. Only real drawback is that, you're lucky if it lasts a month.
