Bad spot in paint.
What do you guys think? Would it be worth the attempt to sand this down with maybe 2000 or 3000 grit sandpaper and try buffing it down after?

I wouldn't man it looks like a paint run from a re spray on the qt panel. If you sand it down to try and level it you will eat through the clearcoat and then the color coat. This will leave you with an un protected area in the paint that will lead to clear coat failure in the future. The only way to fix that is with a re spray at a better body shop man. Or if it is a deep scratch that has gone past the clear and the color coat and is down to the sheet metal then get the Dr. Color Chip kit on Autogeek
By the way I pmed you on DB at least I think that's you that I pmed

I havent used it but I know guys who have and they say it works great and yields good results and saves time. Its much easier than getting the factory touch up paint from your Ford dealer apply it wait for it to dry for a day or 12 hours, then have to wetsand it down to level it with 3000 grit and then compound, polish, seal. But if its a long deep scratch sometimes that really is the best thing to do so its less noticeable, if your just trying to cover up some rock chips or scratches that have gone through the clear coat and color coat that are not very long say less than 2 inches then go with Dr. Colorchip, if not go with the traditional way. I have the Langka blot remover and it sucks it didnt work at all and was a waste of $20 so dont get that man, just a heads up.

See... heres the issue with that:
That could either be a run in the clear or color coat, and you have no way of telling. If it was a outer layer of the clear then yes, wetsanding and heavy compounding would do it. If it is not clear coat and in the color, theres nothing you can do. Another issue, its on a body line. Thus, it would be hard to make an even sanding attempt and not go through the clear coat. Not to mention the compounding at that angle would be bad. In other words... nothing you can do beyond a repaint. Sorry
