Ordered the Flex PE 14-2
Well I finally sold both my PCXP and Makita. I decided to get the PE 14-2 because friend from DB offered to help me get it for a great price of $310 shipped and its brand new from Detailed Image and comes with the Flex storage bag
He has a wholesale account with DI which made it possible for me to get it at that great price. And after selling the polishers and some optimum products I ended up making exactly $310 so I made out great since I didnt have to use any cash out of pocket to get it. I can't wait to try it out with my 3M perfect it III backing plate that I never got to use and some Scholl's S17 that was sent to me to try out from another member sent me![]()

What made you decide to sell the Makita for the Flex?

It a new rotary for 2011, lighter by about a pound, its weight distribution is better, RPM's start at 600 and go to 2100 where the Makita goes from 600 up to 3500 which is great to dry out pads that have been washed but that extra speed will never be needed when correcting because it too fast, its nothing bad that the Makita goes that high. Its just with this specific Flex you can dial in exact RPM's easier. Also it can be used without a handle if you want to use it that way since it has a rubberized grip in the front with indentions for gripping. It also has a low profile to keep the polisher closer to the panel for easier use.
But most of all I just wanted to upgrade because I didnt want to use a D/A anymore. I have become comfortable enough with the Makita that I decided to sell the PCXP. I then thought I might as well use that money and sell both to get one of best rotaries. I was going to get the Festool Shinex but the extra price and the fact the I have to import the backing plates made me decide to go with the Flex PE 14-2, since I can use my existing 3M backing plate already and just go ahead and start polishing. I am going to get a smaller foamed backing plate that is similar to the 3M but in 3" to use with my 4" Uber pads. I know Gloss It has one but I dont want to support Rich Light the owner of Gloss It due to what I have heard about his poor customer service, so I am trying to find another option. Here is a video that Dave from DB made on it You have to be willing to spend $2500 a year with DI to qualify. If you want some products let me know man and I can see if he will order them for you. You then can just pay him via paypal gift and the products or tools get shipped to you directly from DI. He is a really cool guy and I am almost sure he will say yes. If you have list of products of tools in mind PM me.

I do wish the 7424 was designed to be operated with your hand over the pad. I'm not a fan of the handle, but the top of the PC pops off if you put too much pressure on it.
Good buy though, tell me how you like it, because when Spring or Summer rolls around I might try to step up to a rotary.

I've never used the handle on the PC
![]() I always put my hand on the top/front of it... Part of me wants that Rotary, but I personally don't have a need for it since my car is already almost perfect, and I don't do a ton of corrections on vehicles that are looking for perfection. Would kinda be to much for what I do...

You can always sell the PCXP and then jump to the Flex 3401 forced rotation D/A instead of the Flex PE 14-2 rotary

I would like to, but it would still cost me around $220 to do that. I may eventually...

Personally I dont feel its worth it..you could sell PC and get the Griots which I did as well and its much more powerful and doesnt bog anywhere near as easily. Using it with the MF pads and the 7/8" hydrotechs and you should have zero issues. I sold my flex cause I just never used it..I got annoyed with fighting it more then anything..if its not perfectly flat it wants to walk on you and thats just extra work not needed since the normal DA with thsoe pads can match the Flex...the flex was the best DA till they offered the thinner foam pads and the MF..then the field evened out. and I dont see the price worth it now

I also have some Lake Country PFW's in 5.5" and 4" that are being sent to me as well as some Hydrotech Flats coming in since I have the regular hyrdrotechs but wanted to see how the Flats are.

Because the handle screwed in holds that top plate on. Just get 2 screws that are same amd put one on each side and will hold it on. Also I hear if you put a screw on each side it will help with vibration
