I own the 7424XP, when it comes to standard correction - speed setting 5 at 5940 OPMS always seems to yield very good results for me. I will tell you, on vehicles with much tougher clear coats or with lots of marring, I will go ahead and up it up to speed setting 6 for a full 6800 OPMS, however this is not something I do frequently as it's not always needed and I worry about the stress on the machine. It's VERY well built, I just don't like to run it at it's full capacity if I don't have to. If you use proper technique with the 7424XP and account for the pads you are using, then Setting 5 is almost always enough to yield really great results when compounding or polishing.

For correction, almost all polishes need to be used at Speed 6 for the 7424XP. When doing a finishing polish/glaze you could bump down to 5, and for sealants 3 or 4.
Here is what I know off the top of my head:
This gives you a basic idea of what type of products are used at what speed on the 7424XP. After you know what these products work at, you can guesstimate where to start with similar products.

For the PCXP speed 6 arm speed and pressure is what varies for any compound excluding the megs mg system. Speed 5.5 for medium polishes arm speed and pressure also varies on the polishes used. I don't apply glazes, carnaubas or sealants via machine you get better coverage by hand. I can post rotary rpm's if someone wants them. If you guys want specific

Maybe if I bumped it up to 6 instead of 5 my jobs wouldn't take as long. hahahaha. I like to go slower and make more passes at an even pace. Meh, next time I use my machine I'll probably take your advice and see if it cuts down my time.
