WTF Are These Specs?

Please dont mind the filth as my car hasn't been washed in a few weeks due to being too busy...Its so damn dirty right now...

I first noticed these specs on the passenger side c pillar...I tried to clay bar them but nothing...They are smooth but have now gradually moved down to the tail light area and over a good bit of the quarter panel now...There has been no compounding or polishing on the car in the past few months since they are started to appear...

And its just in that one spot...Just the top of the rear quarter up to the c pillar...It saddens me as it looks to me like clear coat failure or the spot of the car...The car has NEVER been in an accident and has never had any repair work done to it...

After I saw these spots I got kinda down in the dumps on cleaning the car so I have kinda let it go lately as its taken a back seat to alot more important things in my life...

A couple more photos might be helpful... the spots are obvious, but it looks like there's also cloudiness.

Could be clearcoat failure, but of a different kind other than oxidation. For example, if you've been polishing excessively, it could be getting thin and breaking through.

It could be also something that ate into the finish in spots, like road salts can do on wheels and other panels. This type of damage could also be agricultural sprays or some accidental exposure.

Inspect with a magnifying glass or jeweler's loupe to get a better look, and try polishing in a small area to see if you can make some progress -- if you have plenty of clearcoat, it might come out.

Nope no heavy polishing...It has seen 1 pass with the MF Microfiber setup on a DA...Going to clean it off with P40 and get better pictures...Off to the dealer tomorrow

Try 3M General Purpose adhesive remover with a microfiber first.

If that doesn't remove it, you either have water etching or worse. Honestly, I think a wool pad a rotary would clean it right up.

This^

Or you can try a medium grade clay its hard to say exactly what they are but it looks like over spray to me. You will get some marring with a medium grade clay but nothing that a light polishing after cant clear up.

That might be clear coat failure. I have the same shit going up and down my passenger side C pillar, only 1000 times worse than in that pic. If I am right, it will only get worse and worse.

Clay it, Compound it, ect... if nothing works take it to a body shop and see what they think it is.

Well I went to local Acura dealership today and it seems you are correct...Seems that Crown Acura in Richmond Virginia reprayed the c pillar and quarter and didnt tell anyone...So now I am going to have to go after them to get it fixed as the local dealership told me $1800 - $3k to fix the issue...

Ouch! So the car had been in an accident at one point? What about a Carfax buyback? (assuming you bought the car from a dealer who sold it like that)

Well that suck Chris I hope it all get squared away and you get the job dont professionally. Thing that sucks is its going to need an entire decontamination and correction after. I still have to correct the work done by the bodyshop that painted my ride after it was in the accident I have to go as far as to wetsand it to hopefully get it back to how it was

Finish repair can be done at the port, assuming it's an import, or even at a distribution depot somewhere if it's not; and if it's under $500 or some such magic number, they don't have to report it to you so it wouldn't be on any paperwork you see, but it might be in some paperwork somewhere.
