2003 Ford Taurus - Trying to Salvage the Interior

As many of you know, aside from my small detailing business, my day job is working for the University of Northern Colorado as an Assistant Admissions Counselor and Freshman Admission Advisor. Well, I guess the vehicle fleet manager got word that I do detailing and hired me in (on my day off ) to try and bring one of their vehicles back to life.

We only did interior work on this vehicle, and the exterior was untouched.

You'll also note the massive red stain on the passenger side....it's paint overspray. The vehicle was in an accident at one point and some genius decided it was a good idea to spray the jams without perfectly sealing everything off.

This was one of the worst interiors I've ever worked on.
Chocolate stuck on the back of the passenger seat undearneath.
Sucker stuck to the carpet behind the driver seat.
Sunflower seeds everywhere.
Enough Pine Needles to build a Christmas tree.
Enough dirt to construct a motorcross track.

Total job took 4 hours. We weren't going for total stain removal here. I got a couple stains out, but I didn't break out my steamer so if you notice there are still some spots, that's why. We were trying to get this thing back to usable conditions again.

Zep works quite well for odor control as well y'all!

Products Used:

Zep Citrus APC 1:1
Tough Stuff Stain Remover
Carpet Brush
AeroSpace Protectant
Adams Glass Cleaner
Uber Microfibers
Q-Tips
5 HP ShopVac

no used condoms under the seats?

The school I went to leased their fleet and just got new cars all the time. What is this one used for, school trips and stuff?

That is a great turnaround. The dash looks brand new!

Yeah, it's considered a State Car, so it's basically any time a University employee needs a car to go somewhere, they get it. hahahha. It's got 203k on it.

Thanks dude!

When you aren't steaming them, I use some diluted Zep and other Carpet cleaners with a carpet brush and then vacuum out everything. If you've got a good strong shop vac it'll pull most of the moisture out the carpet and it gets basically any stains that don't require steaming right out of the carpet.

Danny helped me work that system and I've turned into into a nice little ritual I have that pulls lots of stuff out without steaming.
