Got pc 7424xp for Christmas! Now What's Next? Which Waxes?

Which waxes and compounds would be best for paint correction? been looking at meguiars compounds m105 & m205 and blackfire wet diamond sealer and Menzerna polish. what do i need for the BEST paint correction? no hurry on what products to use. probably going to wait anyways til winter is over. So recommendations would be great. i have never used a pc7424xp but use buffer at work so im not a complete idiot with them and also need pads and everything. still amazed that the buffer doesnt do as good of job as the pc (at least that i have seen online) the pc7424 xp came with a white pad and dont have a clue how to install other pads that would also be great since im a noob! so what pads and products would be great to know! thanks guys!!

I would stick with Meguiars D300 and D301 instead of M105 and M205 since your using a PCXP and not a Rotary you need to add the 5" backing plate to be able to use the pads with the PCXP.

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Megui...Kit_p_594.html

or you can get these Meguiars M105, Menzerna Super Intensive, then either Menzerna 106FA or 85RD

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Menzerna_c_105.html

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Megui...7DA_p_586.html

Pads I would get 2 yellow, 2 greens and 1 blue this is if you opt for the meguiars M105 for compounding and then use Menzera for your middle step and finishing. If your going with the Meguiars DA system then they are not needed just yet.

http://www.detailersdomain.com/5-Pac...nch_p_297.html

Blackfire Wet Diamond & Midnight Sun kit if your going to apply Blackfire wet Diamond this way to go and spend a little more to get Midnight Sun Carnauba and Deep gloss Spray Sealant to maintain the durability/look

BLACKFIRE Wet-Ice Over Fire Kit, detailing kit, car care kit

You will also need quality microfibers without them you will re-instill swirls and scratches into you finish after you correct it

Microfiber for drying

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Uber-...wel_p_516.html

Microfibers for quick detailing you need at least 6

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Uber-...wel_p_573.html

Microfibers for polish, sealant, and wax removal

microfiber, microfiber towels, car care products, auto detailing, house cleaning, micro-restore, micro restore, df towels, microfiber

Detergent for microfibers

Micro Rejuvenator Microfiber Detergent Concentrate

You will also need 2 white or clear buckets with Grit Guards, a quality soap thats really your choice but I chose one for you that is a good quality and you get plenty of soap (you can get a higher quality but be prepared to pay for it and it will also be alot less ounces) and a quality wash mitt like the Uber to prevent scratches and swrils while washing

Professional 5 Gallon Wash Bucket

The Grit Guard Insert - 2 Pack

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Megui...001_p_580.html

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Uber-...-V2_p_515.html

Yes it is several products and tools you will need and it will cost you a few hundred dollars... but that what it costs to get into paint correction and proper detailing.

Take a look at this thread I put together for members trying to get started, oh and welcome to MM by the way!

first off thanks man i appreciate the welcome and detailed post. i have all the buckets, microfiber towels, soap and wash mitts but i appreciate the new links maybe i can replace some of mine too! My car isnt bad but has stupid lines from like the clearcoat and paint from 10+ year old paint and i think this can fix it! And parents have 2012 taurus limited and 2011 lacrosse that are both very new that need a good sealant put on them as well. And question the backing plate that says for use with meguiars da i assume is same spindle as the pc7424xp? and a friend of mine that does body work uses the m105 and m205 with a rotary buffer. I'm guessing the D300 and D301 is for dual action polishers? and i would get probably that meguiars kit if that is what the d300 and d301 are. and the blackfire kit but what is the difference between the two? they are both the same price on dd.com. Is that a deal for the one? also if i got one of the blackfire kits it comes with a yellow pad or 2 depending on which kit would you get a different pad then to replace the yellow ones you described earlier? and i appreciate the help and sorry for all the questions! trying to get the best products to make my mustang look its best! Merry Christmas man and no rush to answering all my questions! lol

1. The Blackfire Kit its a sealant and Carnauba wax kit that you can use on all you vehicle that will provided at least a good 6 months of protection or more. I have use Blackfire Wet Diamond on my Gt and two coats lasted me 5 1/2 months and my Gt is exposed to the elements 24/7 and I live in the desert with 105+ degree days in the spring and summer months.

2. Yes the Meguiars D/A backing plate will fit the PCXP and the Meguiars D300 and D301 paired with the Microfiber cutting and finishing pads are the M105 & M205 alternative for D/A polishers, alot of the guys use that kit here. I still stick to M105 and Menzerna and Scholl Concepts polishes for correction because I dont use a D/A polisher anymore, only my FLEX PE 14-2 Rotary.

3. I never shopped at DD.com unless you mean Detailers Domain but Phil doesn't carry the Blackfire line only Autogeek does now. I can tell you Blackfire Wet Diamond is a Sealant that protects for 4 to 5 months but if you use two coat you can see 6 months or more. Blackfire Midnight Sun is a Carnauba Wax it is used to top over Wet Diamond for a deeper/wetter look that really pops on black and red vehicles. It also will boost your protection so when pair together you should see over 6 months of protection. And if you use the Blackfire Deep Gloss Spray Sealant after washes it will continue to boost your protection even more thats why I suggested the Blackfire kit for you on Autogeek.net it also comes with the applicators to apply them.

4. And the Yellow Uber pads are for Compounding when doing correction work and not for sealant application at all they are a firm coarse foam and are made for machine use only. Where as the yellow foam applicators in the Blackfire kit are very soft foam and are made for sealant and carnuba wax applications by hand. You dont need the Uber pad kit with the Yellow, Green and Blue pads if your going to go with the Meguiars D/A Microfiber Kit with D300 and D301.

Hope this helps out man by the way you have a really nice looking Redfire Gt there with some correction work it going to look amazing! I also suggest you pick up this for your convertible top.

Danny, I was thinking about buying this whole kit which includes
Porter Cable Orbital Kit:
1 Porter Cable

1 - 5 inch Uber Backing Plate

1 - 5.5 inch Uber Yellow Foam Buffing Pads

1 - 5.5 inch Uber Orange Foam Buffing Pads

1 - 5.5 inch Uber Green Foam Buffing Pads

1 - 5.5 inch Uber Blue Foam Buffing Pads

1 - 5.5 inch Uber Black Foam Buffing Pads

1 - 32 oz Meguiar's M105 Ultra Cut Compound

1 - 32 oz Meguiar's M205 Ultra Finishing Polish

6 - Uber Ultra Microfiber Towels 16x16

http://www.detailersdomain.com/Porte...dle_p_307.html

Do you think I should get this kit or buy the 7424xp seperately and buy the other products you mentioned ?

sorry if i'm thread jacking luke, if you want me to I can go ahead and pm danny if you see this as a problem.

Thats a great kit man but I would personally PM Phil from Detailers Domain and ask him if he could send you 2 yellow pads, 2 green pad and 1 Blue pad instead of one pad in each color this way you have 2 yellows for compounding with M105 and 2 greens for M205 and 1 blue for either a finer finishing polish to follow up after M205 like Menzerna 85RD or to use with to apply a Sealant like Menzerna Powerlock. PM Phil or call him and see what he says I am sure he will work with you he has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced from any company.

Detailing How-To Videos

Oh and this thread I made on how to use M105 & M205 some of the products are different now and so are the pads but the steps are the same and so are the speeds for which you set the PCXP.

How to Paint Correct with Meguiars M105/M205

really liking the sound of blackfire diamond with midnight sun over it sounds really good if it will really make my red pop!!! and if i go with the meguiars kit with the d300 & d301 (which is what im leaning toward) i wouldnt need any other pads at all??? and you use m105 & m205 because you have a rotary flex correct? and i have already been looking into a protectant for my top is that a good one? and yes dd.com i meant detailers domain .com lol and my color is shown below in photo!

Oh and this thread I made on how to use M105 & M205 some of the products are different now and so are the pads but the steps are the same and so are the speeds for which you set the PCXP.

How to Paint Correct with Meguiars M105/M205
Will do, I'm going to try and soak up all the info I can and I live in Seguin It's real close to New Braunfels and about 30 minutes from San Antonio.

No you dont need any other pads man just the microfiber cutting discs and the finishing discs ( Meguiars calls them "discs" but they are pads). And yes I use M105 and M205 because I correct via rotary you can use M105 and M205 via D/A but with the new Meguiars D/A system there is really no need to since it was specifically made to use on a D/A like the PCXP. And yes the the vert top product I suggested is good. Oh and I remembered I got it wrong after I posted that it but I was not around my laptop to edit my post and was not Redfire because I recall that color didnt come out until later and is mostly on S197 mustangs

No man its this one.

BLACKFIRE Wet-Ice Over Fire Kit, detailing kit, car care kit

But you can get the one you posted its comes with clay and lube and their gloss enhancing polish which you can use after D301 but you would need a Blue or Black Uber pad to get the job dont that kit is good because if you dont have any clay its your going to need some for sure.
